He has no backbone, no coherent policies (u-turns a dozen times a day)and no understanding of ordinary people's lives. Plus he wears all his clothes a size too small, which really irritates me.

Sadly the level of debate on Mumsnet is sinking lower every week.

Are you Tone Policing everyone or just thisthread?

Had you not realised we have been through an epidemic, Brexit and been affected by the war in Ukraine? We are doing better than expected and hopefully that will continue no matter who is in charge.

Well if we're doing better than expected despite Brexit why did they sell it as a good idea?!

midgemadgemodge · 30/09/2023 15:04

Better than expected ? Worse than almost every other similar country is better than expected ?

also wondering by what measure exactly we are “better than expected”.

Daz57 · 30/09/2023 18:02

Something needs to change … for instance 40% of adults in the UK pay no income tax and it is far to easy to constantly have time off sick. Where I work, there are people who are regularly off sick and nothing is ever said. One of my colleagues boasted how she repainted her entire house whilst off sick on full pay! But this view will not be popular on here.

Why do you think 40% of adults pay no income tax? (Obviously I’m taking this in good faith because I haven’t checked that it’s true.) It’s because their income is less than £12750.

IClaudine · 30/09/2023 18:07

There is a whole other thread running right now for you to complain about the sick and disabled Daz. This is about Sunak. Please don't derail the debate.

How many of that 40% are pensioners?
Maybe if the Tory government hadn't run the NHS down, our waiting lists would't be so long and sick people could get back to work sooner.

ilovesooty · 30/09/2023 18:16

He's climbed the greasy pole quickly by being entirely self serving. He's weak and dishonest. He'll be no loss when he goes.

countrygirl99 · 30/09/2023 18:16

Whenever I hear him he always reminds me of a geeky teenager who has led a very sheltered life taking part in a debating competition.

pointythings · 30/09/2023 18:18

@Daz57 I also know someone who had 6 months off sick on full pay and painted her entire house.

She had cancer. In between bouts of chemo, there were short periods where she was well enough to do some painting to keep her sane - if her DH moved the furniture. Absolute life of Riley, it was. 🙄

enchantedsquirrelwood · 30/09/2023 18:19

I dislike him mainly for the damage his policies are going to do to the planet, his unapologetic flying everywhere, and the fact he doesn't reign in his crazy Home Secretary

couldn't agree more

And how did Braverman ever get to be a barrister? She really is as thick as the proverbial short planks.

pointythings · 30/09/2023 18:20

@countrygirl99 well, it's true that he's had a very sheltered life. He's been completely sheltered from the economic realities the rest of us live with. We should probably feel sorry for him, or something.

Iwantmyoldnameback · 30/09/2023 18:35

I don't like liars so I can say I don't like him. We saw him lie publicly when he saved us from having seven bins, car sharing and whatever other fake shit he came out with.

Ponderence · 30/09/2023 18:52

He seems so smug too

Me too!!

Except I have said he'd have trouble leading a debate in a private school common room!

Yet some people apparently have respect for him and think he's a decent chap.

LittleBowSheep · 30/09/2023 19:31

I don't know the man personally and for that I am truly grateful.

I can't understand how he manages to stand upright considering he is obviously lacking any trace of a spine.

When he was first appointed (not elected) I had hoped that he was going to be marginally better than his 2 predecessors. Let's face it, it wasn't exactly a high bar to get over, was it? But no, he's turned out to be just as callous and deceitful as the others. He is utterly incompetent and each time he speaks he just highlights how out of touch with reality he is. God alone knows what crap he's going to spout during the upcoming conference in his bid to gain a few more votes.

I am outraged and sickened by what the Tory Party have done to this country over the last 13 years. There are many things for which I will never forgive them. I have never been a Labour supporter in my life but I honestly think that they cannot be worse than this shower of sh*te.

Roll on GE, it can't come soon enough.

YANBU.

In lockdown was one of the estimated 3 million people who paid all our taxes in full, had our businesses shut down, and still couldn't access any of the financial support schemes Rishi Sunak devised.

He then stood up on TV and said he'd helped as many people as possible.

Lying bastard.

I narrowly avoided losing my home and I'll never forgive him.

Ditto

itsgettingweird · 01/10/2023 05:49

I'm so sorry for those who weren't entitled to covid support. These stories are awful. I hope you're all doing well now?

I hated how the furlough scheme caused such division - not only in how not everyone was supported but how those who had support and did t have to work seemed to also be able to complain about what those in work were providing.

Covid lockdowns showed the worse of society and I'm not sure it ever recovered.

Nat6999 · 01/10/2023 06:06

Part of the party are turning on him & Suella Braverman, it's going to be like a load of sharks fighting, the only ones left will be the ones that have eaten enough of the weaker sharks. Has anyone seen the Led by Donkeys film on Twitter/X where they sent a reporter disguised as a foreign politician to have a meeting with a member of the Rwanda government in London? If you get chance to watch it, he basically said exactly what anyone who doesn't support the Rwanda policy thinks, we should be looking after all the migrants, not shipping them off there.

Lastchancechica · 01/10/2023 06:28

I like him.

Lastchancechica · 01/10/2023 06:29

This is the glass half empty whinge fest thread.

RocketIceLollie · 01/10/2023 06:36

I don't really understand why some people get so deeply invested with politics to be honest where it gets to a point it obviously upsets you.

BitOutOfPractice · 01/10/2023 06:54

Sorry @Lastchancechica I’ll start the chorus of Roll Out The Barrel and we’ll all get that blitz spirit going and stop moaning and counting our blessings while the whole country burns around us eh?

Lots of people’s glasses are half empty. Some less than half. While they watch others’ glasses overflowing.
