Yeah but they're also for bladder weakness.

Dolores87 · 28/09/2023 18:15

Completely unreasonable.

Transmen exist. I can't tell if I think this is a transman or whether the model has an Adams apple but they are definitely being marketed towards transmen and transmen need period pants.

donkra · 28/09/2023 18:15

I think it's a trans man. So what? Why shouldn't they advertise products to people who may find them useful?

ChocolateCinderToffee · 28/09/2023 18:16

The word 'male' is an adjective.

The noun you want is 'man'.

MatthewsMumFromTikTok · 28/09/2023 18:16

They are not exclusively for periods so of course not exclusively for females!

No biggie is it?

MatthewsMumFromTikTok · 28/09/2023 18:17

This place, honestly! Looking for offence over everything

titchy · 28/09/2023 18:17

The model is undoubtedly female. Though assuming the moustache is real I'd have thought taking T would mean no periods. Maybe not!

OneRingToRuleThemAll · 28/09/2023 18:18

Modibody are for incontinence as well, and they are a male style. Can't see the problem.

HairyKitty · 28/09/2023 18:18

It clearly says it’s period underwear in the ad so that’s what it’s being marketed for. I’d like to think it’s a trans male ie female

Read a bit further....

Lovemusic82 · 28/09/2023 18:21

The model is a female, a trans man but still born female.

Trans men have periods depending on what hormones they are taking, some stop periods.

I don’t see an issue? If it was someone with a penis wearing period pants then it would be odd as people with penis’s don’t have periods.

Bergamotte · 28/09/2023 18:23

Oscar is female.
Even if the actual model no longer gets periods, Modibodi might be using a particularly masculine-looking model so that potential customers who hate that their own periods remind them every month that they're female, find this brand appealing.

megletthesecond · 28/09/2023 18:23

FWIW I'm sure it's a transman.

sunnydayhereandnow · 28/09/2023 18:24

Seriously, who cares? If a person has periods, or has light incontinence, or whatever, then this is an appropriate product for them, totally regardless of their outward appearance. It doesn't require a whole set of assumptions about someone's genitals to assume that a person might find this product useful.

vasco · 28/09/2023 18:25

If you don't like the advert, you could always just not buy them.

museumum · 28/09/2023 18:26

I was targeted with this ad on Fb and although I consider myself pretty aware it took me a while to work out if it really was selling period pants or not as the person in the ad looks so much like a man.
I guess trans men (born female) get periods? The other models are all female but size and disability inclusive so i guess that fits. But for me it was a confusing barrier to their marketing.

Soontobe60 · 28/09/2023 18:26

MatthewsMumFromTikTok · 28/09/2023 18:16

The advert clearly states they are for periods - which is ok because of course transmen, who are female, may still have periods.

ConnieTucker · 28/09/2023 18:29

Same. Transmen need period products and period underwear like this is probably ideal when dealing with dysphoria.

PriOn1 · 28/09/2023 18:29

I think they look very comfortable and I have no problem with the model.

The advert also states "Our breathable patented lining is slim (3mm) and designed to absorb period blood, light bladder leaks, sweat, discharge and more"

MatthewsMumFromTikTok · 28/09/2023 18:30

@Soontobe60 the ad clearly states the following...

They're primarily marketed as period pants, but absorbent is absorbent, and works the same on one bodily fluid as another. Modibodi also sells sweat-absorbent underwear for working out, and nappies.

PhantomUnicorn · 28/09/2023 18:31

YABFU

They're a Transman, meaning probably still have periods.. not all Transmen are on T, and even those who are, sometimes still experience periods/breakthrough bleeding, and bladder incontinence.

Should they not also be included in advertising for these products?

WereYouListeningToTheDudesStory · 28/09/2023 18:31

Someone who has transitioned may well still be having periods. I should have thought that was blindingly obvious.

Do you think trans people shouldn't appear in adverts, or that they shouldn't be made aware of suitable protection for their period, or is it just that you think we should all pretend they don't exist?

SurprisedWithAHorse · 28/09/2023 18:32

Looks like a transman to me.
