Surely Gino diCampos accent is not real

Caught him on telly earlier. WTF ? that accent is fake surely?
I know I need to get a life!

He exaggerates it as part of his persona.

He burgled Paul Young's house and stole a £4000 guitar.

He puts his fake accent on to pretend that he isn't really just a nasty little thief.

Clearly you don't believe in rehabilitation or that people can change.

Aside from his criminal record, he seems to be an arrogant and quite misogynistic individual. He isn’t amusing or clever.

It was in 1998, when he was 21y.. It's been 25 years since then and he did serve time in prison as a result. He contacted Paul Young and apologised to him a few years later and that apology was accepted.

I think it's time to move in from that incident. I mean, I'm not great fan of his but I do believe that 25 years post crime, having been through prison and rehabilitation, and no further criminal activity then it's time to let that bit drop.

@FitAt50 I don't believe people fundamentally change, no. I don't think someone who befriended and manipulated an au pair in order to carry out a burglary is a good person.

I'm sure he wouldn't do anything like that ever again but I do think it says something about the sort of person he is.

I met him at one of of restaurants when they first opened, accent was very weak and he was really arsey. Not the personality you see on TV at all. Was really disappointing.

His restaurant is shit too. Terrible experience.

He puts on most things. His pretending not to understand when he’s saying a “double entendre” by “accident”. To be fair, most people buy it and it’s made him a fortune!

He plays a role doesn't he, I don't take him seriously at all, his cooking is questionable most of the time but I think he's there for the laughs more than anything else.

I think I was just shocked . I'm sure it wasn't as pronounced before. It seemed so weird almost like someone doing an exaggerated impression of him. It was painful and the other presenters seemed to have very little engagement with the stupidity of double entendres etc. It comes across really badly on telly I think. Like he thinks all the viewers are thick

Regarding his accent, it is very very similar to Gennaro Contaldo's, the chef who trained Jamie Oliver. I don't think it is fake.

Gino's behaviour is so over-the-top though, I can't bear to watch him in anything unfortunately. But I think the accent is real.

He's an irritating, egotistical little twat.

Gino is a character. I watched a documentary where he took his son (I think) to Italy, and he was very pleasant when he toned down the bullshit.

I have one of his books that was given to me and it is good. But I find him creepy and I'm pretty tolerant. Also he's not that old and been here for years. Definitely hyping up the accent.

I hadn't really thought about the accent. I don't think his so as interesting as Giovanni Pernice's!
However I can confirm Gino is a dirty boy who came on to my marketing exec when we were running a food event.
