Do you wash your back?

And if so, how? I usually let the soap from hair run over it in a shower, but not sure if that’s actually cleaning it!

Surely washing your arse is a bigger priority than pits?

This cracked me up! 😂There are priorities? 'oh no, I have only a drop of body wash left - let me see, oh yes, here's my list - arse! Sorry pits, you are a lower priority, you will have to wait!'

🤣 this reminds me of my favorite commercial….

That's amazing! 'Shiny suds' 😂

Yep. Over the shoulders then up from the waist. But I am Hypermobile so may make it easier.

I lather armpits, feet, and I clean genitals etc but back and things I let the soap run over. Honestly I have quite good skin and I put it down to not using lots of different chemical and no make up or skin cosmetics. I use a tiny bit of soap and water on my fave and only get one spot on my period. I think the cosmetic industry have women in a chikehold and unless you specifically need a product for overly oily or overly dry skin or eczema a etc then you don't need to load your skin. Let it breathe!

I think my favourite thing about this thread is all the different spellings of loofah! I didn't realise so many people used them! I haven't had one for decades - I used to find it went all manky!

I wash all of my body using my hands and a bar of soap, in the shower every morning. I can (just about) reach all parts of my back, as I'm fairly flexible. I'm not at all obsessively hygienic (and often find MN bonkers on that score tbh), but it wouldn't occur to me to miss any bits out when I'm washing. I like a bath, but only have time for that once a week at the weekend, when I often use some body scrub.

I use a long African net washcloth. A couple of quid on Etsy/eBay/Amazon. It goes in a wash bag in the machine with the towels.

It dries quickly so even between laundering I'm happy it doesn't stay damp enough to harbour germs.

I hang mine on an over-door ironing hook (Lakeland) that hooks on the shower screen so the cloth can drip dry between showers.

I physically wash every inch, head to toe. It exfoliates my skin and keeps it smooth and healthy. I worked in the NHS for years and the number of people coming in with skin problems that could have been avoided if they'd washed properly and regularly was incredible.

I use something similar. With bar soap.

The most surprising thing for me on this thread is hearing about donkeys resetting hair.
I have a lovely mental picture of donkeys working in the salon.

I wash arm pits and front of my body with a puff thing, inbetween my legs with my hand and shower gel, soapy toothbrush up the arse and and a loafer for my back

Soapy toothbrush and a loafer?

Is the 'loafer' your DP?

letmesailletmesail · 24/09/2023 08:38

I used to get bad spots on my back which the GP thought might be caused by shampoo or conditioner run off so I've washed it ever since. I've got more flexible as a result!

You might not say anything, but PHEW ! Yes your fanny can smell appalling for those poor people sitting next to you. In my long life I'd say that the people who've told me " I don't smell bad .......my fanny doesn't need soap" etc, they are the ones who absolutely reek when you are next to them.

Or if you go in the loo immediately after someone, you can smell their dirty body and particularly their downstairs!

smartiesneberhadtheanswer · 24/09/2023 08:46

@CrunchyCarrot

Not specifically but it all gets washed from soap and shampoo run off.

IDriveMySupernova · 24/09/2023 11:09

Also laughing at all the variations of loofah.

I have a long-handled brush and give it a good scrub. I feel so invigorated afterwards.

I have definitely sat next to or been in close-proximity to people who apparently don’t wash their genitals. It really does smell.

BananaPyjamaLlama · 24/09/2023 13:38

@SecretSoul @starrynight21 Ummm really?

Actually I do wash mine.......... but Im in and out of the shower within 5 minutes. I do not smell stinky.
People that stink are those that arent washing at all. Or not washing their clothes often enough. They arent specifically not washing their pits, they arent washing enough at all.
