Do you wash your back?

And if so, how? I usually let the soap from hair run over it in a shower, but not sure if that’s actually cleaning it!

No but started to once I read that it was expected on Mumsnet 😂

Doggymummar · 23/09/2023 22:28

I wash everywhere with shower mitts

MysteryBelle · 23/09/2023 22:28

Yes and I use contortion like pp said 😄 and my bar of soap.

beetr00 · 23/09/2023 22:28

I wear those loofah scrub gloves and exfoliate every inch of me with them. In between toes, legs, crack, back, arms, chest, shoulders, etc). The amount of soapy dead skin scum that gets washed off is so gross! It's made even more noticeable if I'm washing a self tan off and I can see the orange dead skin scum building up around the drain.

I can't believe some people don't exfoliate their skin or at least give it a good lather up.

I rarely need to exfoliate my body. My skin would get too sore/sensitive and it's not dry. I doubt you'd need to as often if you didn't use fake tan.

JaneJeffer · 23/09/2023 22:29

and and a loafer for my back
An espadrille is better for exfoliation

DiscoBeat · 23/09/2023 22:30

Soap just running down isn't going to do it. I use a long handled bristle brush for my back.

SunnyFrost · 23/09/2023 22:33

toothbrush up the arse

What have I just read?! 😱

isthismylifenow · 23/09/2023 22:33

HillbillyDarlene · 23/09/2023 22:20

I wash arm pits and front of my body with a puff thing, inbetween my legs with my hand and shower gel, soapy toothbrush up the arse and and a loafer for my back

Say what? A toothbrush up your arse?

I have a back brush for using in the shower. In the bath I just do some contortion acts with a loofah sponge.

24252627a · 23/09/2023 22:35

Yes I do because I get back acne so need to wash with acne wash

QuestionableMouse · 23/09/2023 22:35

I have a back brush. Apply shower gel and scrub. It was a few quid from Superdrug.

Sober23 · 23/09/2023 22:37

I actively wash my bits, my pits and my feet. everywhere else just gets some suds washing over it. I'm fairly robustly healthy. Thanks.

Surely2023IsTheYearForMyRainbowBaby · 23/09/2023 22:37

Just the parts of it can reach without popping a shoulder of joint

QuestionableMouse · 23/09/2023 22:38

ShutTheDoorBabe · 23/09/2023 22:19

No. How mucky does your back really get? I'm like you and just let the shampoo and the force of the shower water wash it.

I sweat like mad at work (polyester uniform 🤮) and get a spotty back if I don't wash.

smartiesneberhadtheanswer · 23/09/2023 21:42

I soap under my arms and wash no other part of me, just assume run off from shampoo etc will clean me.

Mumsnet is so weird with all the constant washing of body parts and sheets

Me to. Would only actively wash arms, legs, back etc if I had dirt on them

43ontherocksporfavor · 23/09/2023 22:40

No it just gets wet in the shower.

SofiYol · 23/09/2023 22:42

Mumsnet is insane.

A toothbrush?!

Etam · 23/09/2023 22:42

LMFAO at the rude judgement of my use of fake tan. I use it about 4-5 times a year, mostly in the summer if I’m going to a wedding or event because I don’t want to blind people with my pasty white skin. I’ve had people comment on my paleness asking if I felt ok because I look ill, so I occasionally use a gradual tan moisturiser when I’m going to have to dress up and show some skin. Meanwhile we’ve got someone scrubbing the inside of their ass with a toothbrush. You just can’t win can you 😂

heartofglass23 · 23/09/2023 22:44

Long handled brush.

This is giving me the ice like the ones about people who dont wash their feet in the shower!

FluffyCloudsofShit · 23/09/2023 22:45

I wedge a towel onto into the inside of my shower which I have sewn sponges on. I squirt shower gel onto it and then rub my back up and down against it.

RobertaFirmino · 23/09/2023 22:52

SofiYol · 23/09/2023 22:42

Mumsnet is insane.

A toothbrush?!

I'm pretty sure that's what is known in the industry as 'a joke'.

In answer to the question, of course I wash my back in the shower. I've got restricted movement and have got a long handled brush to help me wash properly. A good old scrub is good for you anyway, gets the circulation going.

Do some people really not pay attention to this area then? I knew there were grotty fuckers here who didn't wash their feet properly but backs too? Jesus...

I get showered at least five times a week but on one or two mornings, when DH leaves early, I make do with a stripwash. That's because I've only got a shower over the bath and I need help getting in and out. Hands, face, back of neck, underarms, under boobs, groin and in between then sit down to give feet the once over.

hideundermyduvet2023 · 23/09/2023 22:53

There is so much bollocks out there about soap and washing vulvas etc

No, you aren't meant to shove a soapy hand/ sponge up your vagina but you are meant to clean with soap the areas around it. There are creases in labia and around thigh. The bum crack and around anus (not poking it inside!)

There are oils and all sort of disgustingness collecting in those areas. Smeg.

I wouldn't want to sit next to you in the office !

PickAChew · 23/09/2023 22:56

I use a nylon japanese wash cloth. They give a really good scrub and dry quickly so don't get smelly.

TicTac80 · 23/09/2023 22:57

I use a loofah or a long handled body brush. I just don't feel clean unless I've washed everywhere with those things and soap/shower gel

Myfavouritepenguin · 23/09/2023 23:00

Loving this thread. I very rarely laugh out loud at a thread but this has done it. Nice work @oakleaffy
