DS (4) was fine all day yesterday. We went out for dinner last night and he ate all of his (including beans which may be relevant). We then had our weekly family movie night, DS had some squash and a tiny bit of chocolate whilst watching the movie. Normally on movie night we let the DC stay up later than normal so they usually sleep in aswell.

He's now woken up at 4 this morning crying saying his stomach hurts. I instantly thought its because he ate so much last night so encouraged him to go to the toilet which he did. He did a poop but said his stomach was still hurting.

He's now white as a ghost, feels really cold and clammy to the touch and is saying his tummy hurts so much he can't stand up. I've got him to walk a little bit which he has but he's bent over whilst doing it bless him.

I don't want to take him anywhere yet incase it is just wind from the beans Blush but I would have thought going to the toilet would have helped ease that a bit which it hasn't. Anyone had this with their little ones?

Really hope he is feeling a little better and that you get answers soon x

Ds was admitted age 8 with severe pain on the left side, he wouldn't let me touch him. It turned out to be an impaction, he was very pale, shivering & clammy. They did an enema & my word I have never seen so much poo come out of a small person, he was sick as well, bright green, but an hour after they did the enema & we were discharged he was eating a McDonalds on the way home.

I hope tonight brings some answers and relief for your son op

Mostlyoblivious · 23/09/2023 22:51

My husband says to ask them to speak to critical care outreach - you would like a second opinion from them. (Martha’s law - it isn’t law yet btw, it is what has been in the press).

I really hope that he feels better soon

peachgreen · 23/09/2023 22:51

The fear of your kid being in pain and nobody paying attention is just the worst thing I’ve ever experienced. Thinking of you, OP.

stayclosetoyourself · 23/09/2023 22:53

Hopefully OP is sleeping and charging her phone

determinedtomakethiswork · 23/09/2023 22:53

I hope that the doctors can figure this out soon. It must be really worrying for you.

Yellowflower47 · 23/09/2023 22:53

Really hope you have some answers but more importantly that your son is okay. It must be awful for him and so worrying for you. Don’t let them fob you off or discharge you without a diagnosis. You know your child best and this all sounds like ‘something’ rather than ‘nothing’.

Coco1379 · 23/09/2023 22:56

Does he feel or been sick? If his breath is foul go to A&E it could be appendicitis

Rainallnight · 23/09/2023 22:57

OP, you have the full permission of everyone on this thread to raise merry hell. Thinking of you.

DyslexicPoster · 23/09/2023 22:58

I hope he is feeling better now, poor mite

OddlyFramed · 23/09/2023 23:02

You are a great mum and the nurses can see he isn’t right. Kids don’t vomit when they stand up and are drowsy, that’s not normal!

Zanatdy · 23/09/2023 23:07

Oh bless him. Pancreas issue from the accident would show in bloods. Either raised amylase or lipase or CRP, so if all ok it’s unlikely to be that. But this isn’t normal and I’d be refusing to leave too. Really hope he’s on the mend soon

satellitesunshine · 23/09/2023 23:09

hope you have answers op x

Lostinbrum · 23/09/2023 23:10

My daughter had similar symptoms during lockdown, we ended up going to the hospital as paramedics couldn't rule out appendicitis. Many hours later Dr's ruled it out and said it was just a virus(not covid) but she hadn't eaten for a couple of days and we had to almost force her to eat and drink as her blood sugar was so low. Such a worry I hope he's doing OK

Banrion · 23/09/2023 23:10

It's shocking a doctor considered sending him home. I hope you're getting some answers. Good luck.

CantThinkOfANewUsernameAgain · 23/09/2023 23:15

Hope you get answers.
My appendicitis at 7 i remember. It was left side pain and stomach for days, they said it can often radiate the other side. All identical symptoms as your dc.
They said they'd remove them anyway. As they opened me up they ruptured so i was lucky

Tempone · 23/09/2023 23:18

My ds appendix pain was on both sides, they said it was a shadow pain. Hope your ds is OK x

Pushpull · 23/09/2023 23:23

I hope he is improving or you are closer to answers. It's awful that we feel we have to push so much but well done for doing so

Alltheyearround · 23/09/2023 23:28

We had similar recently and it was a nasty bladder infection needing strong antibiotics, we had thought appendix as had the NHS walk in centre team. Seen at A and E.

Hope you are OK OP and you get seen. As PP have said, ask for second opinion if you are not happy. With the bladder we were at A and E twice that week (it escalated to another infection) then for a scan. A busy old week for all!

NewGrad · 23/09/2023 23:37

I hope he’s on the mend soon, OP! What a scary time for you

Scutterbug · 23/09/2023 23:38

What a worry for you. I hope he is showing signs of improvement x

oakleaffy · 23/09/2023 23:38

Hope you get an answer
Not spleen by any chance? ( They probably tested for this already however)

( I’m NOT a medic but falls from bikes and horses can lead to ruptured spleen)

Best wishes to you and your poor son- it must be very frightening for you both.

I forgot to add that the reason they think pulled muscle is because he hit his chest on his bike yesterday, he was fine afterwards and played etc after crying for a few mins. That's why they did the X-ray to confirm it wasn't related and the first dr said that because he wasn't travelling fast and was fine afterwards it's not likely to be related. Second dr has now jumped on that and is trying to blame that as the cause
