What do you do in the day?

NOT a judgmental post

I worked all my life and had my dc later (infertility) We cut right back money wise and I was able to stay with her until she went to school. She’s now at school and I’m working a few evenings and a Saturday morning, which works out well. I’ve had a couple of weeks at home during the day now that my Dd is at school, I’ve enjoyed reading books, walking the dog, watching films etc. I do any housework that needs doing, but it’s done pretty quickly, plus the food shop, dinners, school run. Just wondering what others do and what to do to fill my time (all friends work in the day now)

I stopped working about 10 months ago. I actually really struggle with the motivation to do the stuff I know I should be doing. I'm not bored - I can happily fill my time watching TV and crocheting but I get really fed up of the long list of 'jobs' I feel like I should be doing that I just don't. I've decided this school year that I need to approach my days off like a job - make a list of all the things I want to do and bloody well get them done. However I then find more TV and new things to crochet 🙄😂🤦

I have a garden that needs looking at, I should meal plan and cook more and shop accordingly, I need to declutter everywhere and I'd like to decorate my living room. But today I made a very cute yarn pumpkin (in my defence I am suffering with DS's cold!)

I think if your character is that way inclined then it is very hard to apply that self discipline. I was like that as a SAHM (Not crocheting) but I was never bored and I was quite busy with young children as even after school it afforded the. A social life at the park as lots of children do that here. Loads of freelancers or SAHP and your DC missed out a bit if you weren't part of that. However, i need the motivation of work that I am focused on, I am good at detail so running a house does not play to my strengths which is essentially multi tasking. Plus I got loads more done in hours after work than I did in the day time as SAHP.

@bopbey I plan Christmas with military precision and I dedicate a whole writing book to it :) (preens smugly)

I have a couple of days in the week at home which compensates for working long 11 hr days at the beginning of the week.
For me it is a big 'catch up' on housework, cleaning, gardening, shopping so that I can relax at the weekend. I cook properly on those days. Walk the dog, try to fit in some excercise and also squeeze in appointments (dentist, opticians, hair, etc). This week I managed a tip run and fitted a new toilet seat.
I multitask a lot- typically I'm pottering around with my hair dye on and juggling house admin on my phone or my online shop.😆 I can't relax enough to read but try to grab an hour of some uninterrupted tv. Once a month I write an online blog .
