I still fancy RB

WesterChick · 19/09/2023 23:16

I've watched the documentary.

I still fancy RB.

I identify as a radical feminist.

I'm married with kids.

I think that if you are a heterosexual woman, you are either in denial on what men are or you accept what they are but find them irresistibly sexually attractive and so continue to be with them.

RB is simply what the vast majority of men would be like if they could get away with it.

Therefore - and because he's bloody good looking, funny and intelligent - and sexy - I will continue to fancy the pants off him.

I think women who are being all shocked and descusted at his behaviour need to consider what men are actually like. There's not some massive demarcation between him and other men.

It’s completely irrelevant how many women he has had sex with or how many times he has had sex with a women or how they met

a man makes a choice to rape, a women does not consent to being raped

Ramalangadingdong · 21/09/2023 19:26

Why do we keep calling them allegations? Surely the correct term is accusation?

I agree.

A woman saying no should be a sexual turn off.

The idea that a man’s sexuality is uncontrollable needs to be debunked.

Poptones · 21/09/2023 17:53

No not really. It's a simple numbers game. Slept with 2000 women, just one accuses him of rape.
Yet the other 1999 don't.
I'd expect there to be more accusations.

If he'd only slept with 10 women I wouldn't take this stance but it's 2000 so I do.
You don't need to educate me on this.

The odds very much suggest he's innocent.

Wow. Just wow.

Letitgonowgr · 21/09/2023 19:38

Good looking? He looks like he stinks.

HRTQueen · 21/09/2023 20:01

Ramalangadingdong I agree that the idea of men have uncontrollable sexual needs should be debunked

it’s so ingrained in many if not all societies that men have to have sex from laws to religion it’s supports this myth

IClaudine · 21/09/2023 20:09

Hoist by his own revolting petard. I believe all the women.

I don't think so.

There will be a lot of name changing on MN soon, I bet.

He can't monetise his content, that is the same as silencing someone. If he makes further content, all he will be doing is drawing people to youtube and making money for the very people that are trying to cancel him.

Nonsense. Not the same at all. He has a huge platform.

I really can’t believe the awful rape and abuse apologists on this thread. Disgraceful attitudes.

spookehtooth · 21/09/2023 20:31

I'm glad a few PP have brought up the myth of uncontrollable male urges, I've never understood it as anything other than a crap excuse. Dangerous too, as a version of it gets used to excuse or mitigate in cases of women getting murdered in relation to cheating/adultery situations. I'm surprised guidance or legislation hasn't been passed to disallow it

The women who have come forward are actually the exception. They are incredibly brave and I really admire them. He is likely to have hurt others but they may never come forward. I never reported my exh and probably never will. The neighbours reported him because they heard me shouting for help but I still refused to press charges. There were many reasons why I didn’t want to: I didn’t want to be a victim; I wanted to continue the fantasy that nothing had changed inside me and that I was the same person I had always been (not true. I had changed irrevocably); I just didn’t want the fuss; I was afraid that it might escalate his behaviour and that he might kill me; I didn’t want to get him into trouble (pathetic but true); I thought it was somehow my fault.

Because I thought it was my fault I thought he wouldn’t harm other women but now I know differently. That could be one of the reasons women only come forward when they realise that there are other victims - because it makes them realise they are not the only one.

I would also guess that many women who went with RB are just too embarrassed to admit that it wasn’t the great night of sex with a celeb but something quite a lot darker. With these new revelations that might just change.

What are you talking about?

YouTube have stopped him from monetising his content, therefore he will no longer be able to make content for youtube, his main platform (6m subscribers).
It's not exactly a secret that he is being cancelled, it's all over the internet, not sure why you're picking that particular post out.

Nemesias · 21/09/2023 21:03

Poptones · 21/09/2023 18:52

Well hard as it is then, and I do appreciate it's hard, if he's harmed anyone else they need to come forward, don't they?
Add more weight to the accusations because where I'm standing that's a very small number out of 2000.

How many are you holding out for before you start to think “maybe these women aren’t lying”? What’s the number for you?

sunglassesonthetable · 21/09/2023 21:14

YouTube have stopped him from monetising his content, therefore he will no longer be able to make content for youtube, his main platform (6m subscribers).

Well that's not the same thing. He can't make money from his platform.

He can still make the content.

Goateen · 21/09/2023 21:22

To be fair, I can understand why people don't like the idea of demonising RB.

  1. No trial, so technically allegations
  2. Why aren't we doing this for everyone who's accused? Normal people who are bad are still up.

But if he's a big figure in the news with these kind of accusations, advertisers don't want to be associated with it. Didn't Pewdiepie get demonetised for a while? True crime YouTubers did because Pepsi and whoever don't want their brand associated with certain people or content.

No company wants to advertise on Russell brands videos.

So 🤷🏼‍♀️ it's just how it is. It's not feasible for him to keep getting ad money as if this whole situation isn't playing out

PurpleFlower1983 · 21/09/2023 21:28

Brand reminds me of my abusive ex, classic narcissist. My younger self may have found him attractive but my older, wiser self has been repulsed by him for years.

Of course he can't make content for free for any length of time, he needs to make a living like anyone else.
Any content he puts on YouTube would just like the pockets of.... YouTube.
He has other options, but he will clearly take a huge financial hit, possibly lose his career, all with no trial.
I'm sure that makes most mumsnetters very happy but I personally really despise cancel culture.

He is a multi millionaire. I am sure he will get by until he goes to prison.

I feel very sorry for his wife and children.

Yes and I'm worried about it but yes I do!

And yes I have been raped and subject to all sorts of horrible abuse

To go to prison he will need someone to actually go to the police. There has been a brief mention of one police report but I doubt anything will come of it.

I feel sorry for his wife and children too

Sorry but you've missed the detail again.

Seems like the same unit the was set up to investigate Saville is now investigating RB.

But, you do you!

I don't think he's been convicted yet, has he?
