How clean or dirty is your house right now?

My partner and I are in disagreement. My partner thinks that my standards of cleanliness are exceptionally high, and I think that my partner has exceptionally low standards.

So, how clean or dirty is your house right now? Would you be willing to post a photograph of your kitchen in the state that it is in right now?

Well it was clean until my cat just ran in and got muddy paw prints across the floor. If you give me a minute to mop those up I would be more than happy to share a picture.

Rest of the house is clean too.

BeretRaspberry · 19/09/2023 20:58

My kitchen is usually spotless and is but there are a couple of things on the side that need to go in the dishwasher, which will be done shortly.

My house is generally clean and tidy but I have cleaners fortnightly and maintain it myself in between. And my kids are older so not as many bits and pieces around.

Clean but the 70's have a lot to answer for...

Mines awful but we are having an extension built, I've got 2 young kids and WFH. It's honestly not nice but bathroom and kitchen sink area clean. I'm not a super clean person but this is totally doing my head in after 7 months.

😳 where's all your stuff!!

PinkRoses1245 · 19/09/2023 21:08

Yes, generally would always post a photo or have someone over. Easiest to clean and tidy as you go.

GreenGo · 19/09/2023 21:08

My house is clean. But my ex-dp, who is extreme minimalist, would say it is messy. Meaning I have few things lying around (very far from hoarders on tv!). But he wasn't clean to same standards than I was.

cruffinsmuffin · 19/09/2023 21:09

Currently immaculate - to the point I was running toothpicks down the sides of the hob earlier 😂

It's normally very clean but today it got an extra deep clean so it's ever more sparkly than usual.

Rest of the house is pretty spotless too, but that's my raging OCD and anxiety (glad it's good for something!).

In the drawers you can see, and nicely organised. I don't like things out on the counter as I feel it looks messy/ cluttered.

Like a crack den

mine is very clean, it always is. Apart from teen bedrooms it’s also spotlessly tidy. Teens rooms get cleaned weekly and food upstairs is strictly forbidden. It will be even cleaner tomorrow once the cleaner has been. I have never lived in a dirty messy house and never woul

Sodullincomparison · 19/09/2023 21:29

Probably a 7/10. Would take ten minutes to sort out downstairs if anyone was popping by.

I clean it and DD5 follows me and undoes any good I do.

WhatACluster · 19/09/2023 21:32

Mine is an absolute mess…

Kids rooms are diabolical

my bedroom needs all the clothes putting away

kitchen and living room are passable but need a bloody good deep clean

im currently poorly and no one else seems bothered or interested in cleaning

Tlolljs · 19/09/2023 21:35

I’ve just got in from work I tidied before I went so it’s ok. The dreaded clothes airer is back though.

Flipbopboop · 19/09/2023 21:37

House is generally tidy but right now it's a mess. Washing needs doing and rubbish needs taking out. We could clean the entire house in under an hour but we have a stomach bug so it will have to wait.

CharSiu · 19/09/2023 21:38

Kitchen/diner always very tidy it’s currently full of gum bunnies making protein shakes as DS and his GF are just back from the gym plus making packed lunches for work. Everywhere is always fine apart from bedrooms, mainly laundry not put away.

mondaytosunday · 19/09/2023 21:40

Ummmmm....
Superficially clean but it needs a deep clean. My bathroom is yuck - needs totally emptying and scrubbed! Guest loo is clean. Kitchen is clean - fridge needs a clear out and oven needs doing. Livingroom shelves need dusting for sure.
We are not very tidy though - tend to have piles of magazines or paperwork in a few areas - and my office is a total mess!
My late husband was very tidy. Clothes always hung up, sheets changed every week, never a cup left in the sink.

Ratfinkstinkypink · 19/09/2023 21:41

Clean and tidy enough for me to feel comfortable about an unannounced visit from my social worker (which I must be due soon).

kitsuneghost · 19/09/2023 21:43

We cleaned Saturday so it's OK
starting to need a bit of a hoover.

Seriously79 · 19/09/2023 21:45

It's quite tidy. But that only because DH has been off today. He got a call from his parents to say they were popping in at lunchtime.

It looked like a bomb site before that 😝

VeridicalVagabond · 19/09/2023 21:45

Mine is... rustic. There are some muddy paw prints by the back door, the stove top could probably do with a clean, there may be some errant crumbs near the toaster. It's mostly fine. I wouldn't be embarrassed if someone came over.

Threads like this are always going to attract the "dust fears to settle in my home" crowd who think if you don't mop the ceiling five times a day and disinfect anything you've even thought about touching you're a filthy heathen. I do love to read them.

soupmaker · 19/09/2023 21:52

I'd be happy to invite anyone over the threshold. Although would make a dash upstairs to check the bathroom is presentable! DD1's trainers are on the hall radiator mind.

ChicagoBears · 19/09/2023 21:57

Spotless. I’m very grateful and lucky to have a cleaner that does 8 hours a week and I WFH so always make sure the house looks tidy even after 2 whirlwind have caused chaos.

declutteringmymind · 19/09/2023 21:59

80 percent clean , 60 percent tidy.
Judge me all you like.

BUT I'm not stressed and not having petty arguments with my DH.

301963Laurie · 19/09/2023 22:02

Lived in but tidy ,a bit of dust around and probably some amazing cobwebs but I can’t see them without actually looking! Conservatory a bit spidery and floor has a few paw marks from dog coming in and out .
