I know what you mean, and I'd have been a bit 'Er, what?' about it as well.

However, when I actually think about it logically, I'm pretty sure that most people's bum cheeks are probably a lot cleaner than (eg) their hands, and certainly no worse than the sweaty shorts they wear for a workout. It's only really your bumhole itself that's going to be a hygiene concern, and I would assume that was tucked well away betwixt the buttocks for sitting purposes. Or were you referring to minge-bench contact here?

Generally speaking, though, I'd rather strangers just kept their pants on when in my presence. Not for hygiene reasons, but just because I don't really want to look up from packing my gym kit away and have some random woman's fanny winking at me.

I’ve also seen three women changing their sanitary pad right in the middle of the changing room - actually removing the used one from knickers, sitting it on their stuff, putting a new pad in knickers and then wrapping the used one up. Absolutely rank - I do not want to see this sight and I don’t know why they couldn’t go to the toilet cubicles that are situated in the changing room like most women do.

That's really gross. Absolutely no issue with nudity, but hygiene wise I wouldn't sit on a bench with bare genitals. Works both ways too -she could be sitting in anything; dirt from trainers or feet or a bag, spilled food or drink, cleaning products or cosmetics. It's not hard to just put a towel down.

To me, the whole naked in public (changing rooms too) thing is a bit too much anyway... I fully accept that might be 'my' problem, but still.

I dont like being naked in public, and dont like people being naked around me.
I understand it might be a ME problem, but seriously, there is no need to carry on full conversations in the nude in the changing room.

@whatwasthatgrandma its not mysogyny! I dont want to see any ones naked body, unless Im having sex with them, or in some way dealing with their hygyene (like with DC or elderly relatives that need care).

Fuck all to do with misogyny; I don’t want to see a random man’s naked body at the gym either. Basically I don’t want to see anyone’s sweaty arse leaving bum prints on any chair ever, regardless of setting.

Also the gym I use has cubicles for changing anyway, so no expectation of nakedness.

changing rooms in general are grim to be honest. i just refuse to use them and won't go to public pools in uk because all the changing rooms smell of piss

Think you’re probably right about buttocks but I’d say it’s the fanny that’s the hygiene risk in this case. Let’s face it, there’s a good reason swimwear has a little protective hygiene strip in it when you try it on.

If you use cubicles, you're not out there to see anything: so you have no reason to complain about seeing anything.
If you don't use the cubicles and choose to get changed in a place others also get changed: you also have no reason to complain about seeing anything.

@whatwasthatgrandma Have you ever been in a changing room? To get to the cubicles, you usually have to walk through the communal area.
And there, a lot of the time, people are naked. And not just "Im putting my clothes on real quick" naked, but "imma gonna sit here, naked, on my phone, for a good long while".

Its pretty hard not to see. And Id rather not.
This is not about people getting changed in changing rooms. Its about people laying about, naked, in said changing rooms, and changing dirty period pads, and sitting bare assed on benches.

No one who is just changing clothes has time to sit their naked ass down on a seat!
