To think this just sums up XL Bully owners?

Look North last night. Peter Levy is interviewing a woman who owns two XL Bullys. Both cropped and docked which she says happened in another country before she got them (yeah, course it did).

Peter asks her “so why do people want these dogs in the first place, what’s the attraction for you?”

She replies “well I wanted dogs that were good with kids and famines and stuff so we got XL Bully’s cos they’re great with kids”

Wtf? If I didn’t know better I’d swear this was a spoof interview. Good with kids and families?? These dogs have been responsible for the most human deaths in dog attacks in the UK in recent years!!! Just last week an 11 year CHILD was attacked by one of these dogs … so when looking for a child friendly dog she bypasses the golden retriever etc and goes for the breed with the biggest track record of killing humans …

He then asked her if she will comply with the muzzle when the laws are changed - she said NO.

Then the cherry on the cake … he asked her “would you leave your child alone with these dogs?” And she said “yes, absolutely. I leave my two year old alone with them all the time whilst I’m busy making dinner etc”

Honestly the interview couldn’t have been any more gobsmacking.

This just sums up XL bully owners doesn’t it? Thick as pig shit with no regard to their own safety or the safety of others.

She's two, so not yet fully matured - it's a good point and something I was aware of, but thank you for telling me 😊

Twistedex · 19/09/2023 17:43

I'm not deluded at all, thank you. A breed having a greater potential for a certain trait does not mean that every dog of that breed will consistently display that trait. I've known gundogs who are frightened of loud bangs and who couldn't use their noses to track a scent to save their lives, as one example.

And yes, I can trace her bloodline, thank you for asking. Not all XL owners are the same.

The fact that you think you could stop an XL bully attack with a spare lead tells me everything I need to know.

Have you checked your dogs blood line for a dog called Kimbo? I hope for your sake (and everyone around you) that he doesn’t feature.

Has someone really been killed by a Jack Russell? Have to say, that would be an extraordinary bit of bad luck, did they trip up over it and bang their head?

It’s usually children, often babies.
I assume they think it’s some sort of animal.

I’m surprised you’ve never heard of this. I can think of at least 3/4 separate cases of infants being killed by jack Russells.

MrTiddlesTheCat · 19/09/2023 17:50

There was a reason they interviewed this woman and not the teacher or doctor who also owns them.

Is it because teachers and doctors who also own them are bigger than other people and therefore strong enough to physically intervene if their dog decides to go rogue?

Cherrylily7 · 19/09/2023 17:50

@Zebedee55 totally agree
Wrongly the women disappoint me more than the men because I expect disgusting and irresponsible behaviour from men (not right or acceptable of course but that is my experience) but so many women go along with men on all sorts of issues due to conditioning, low self esteem or down right stupidity
I love animals but there is no good reason to own dogs who combine immense strength and size with a low aggression threshold
The cropped ears and tails say it all about the sort of people who own them
Criminals and morons

Twistedex · 19/09/2023 17:50

That's dreadful, I'm so sorry you and your dog had to go through that. A perfect example of why some people should never be allowed to own any dog.

SemperIdem · 19/09/2023 17:51

There have been incidents of babies being killed by JRT’s, when left alone.

No full grown adults, as far as I am aware.

Fallingthroughclouds · 19/09/2023 17:51

Twistedex · 19/09/2023 16:19

Yes, that's right, because every single XL Bully owner must be exactly the same 🙄

Don't be so bloody offensive and ignorant.

Well if it's not for stupidity, then why would you buy a breed of dog that is responsible for so many deaths?

VeloVixen · 19/09/2023 17:51

It’s because Peter Levy is a goady fucker.

ttcat37 · 19/09/2023 17:51

They’ll ban XL bullies and the shit irresponsible owners will latch on to some other breed that they don’t look after properly. It’s the owners, not the breed, and I will die on this hill.

Ozarkz · 19/09/2023 17:51

nopenotplaying · 19/09/2023 17:47

Every XL bully owner I have met fits that description.

But that is only the ones ive 'met' in passing.

However, I'm a Doberman owner. How would you describe me and my lifestyle?

I’m also a Dobermann owner. I’d say great choice in dog as long as you know what you’re doing.

TorqueWrench · 19/09/2023 17:52

I mean come on … what possible reason would you want an xl bully

You've pretty much answered your own question with 'guarding' and 'looking well 'ard'.

It's clear that many women feel unsafe walking around - plenty of threads on that, including one currently in AIBU. Now imagine they were 4x more likely to be attacked by a stranger but were expected not to show or discuss their fear for risk of being ridiculed.

That's how you end up with men walking around with big scary dogs. The fact that they're more common in dodgy areas and more popular with the demographics most likely to experience assault says it all.

It's unlikely to change whilst we continue to focus on relatively low risk middle class females jogging in affluent areas. We need to examine why young working class men in poor areas feel they need deterrents/protection. The answer isn't rocket science!

🤣🤣

yes that and they don’t fit the stereotype.

Have googled. Found reports of a baby who was killed by a JRT and also someone who died of sepsis after been nipped by his JRT.

stayflufft · 19/09/2023 17:54

Anyone who puts the safety of their kids below having a great big ugly and aggressive dog is as thick as pig shit.

So long as they latch on to some other breed that I’m capable of fighting off should it attack me or my child I don’t give a shit. It is the breed because that’s the point - people can’t fight these fuckers off.

Appleass · 19/09/2023 17:54

You absolute ignorant *. I would get banned from here if I could respond to you how you deserve!

Crazycrazylady · 19/09/2023 17:54

Johnnylewis · 19/09/2023 17:02

They are dogs for the hard of thinking, who will argue until their last breath that they're no more dangerous than a Yorkshire terrier and make amazing family pets.

There is definite correlation between choice of breed and IQ.

This is absolutely true.

SomeCatFromJapan · 19/09/2023 17:55

Has someone reallybeen killed by a Jack Russell? Have to say, that would be an extraordinary bit of bad luck, did they trip up over it and bang their head?

It was a baby, sadly. But that's about all it would manage realistically and would have been prevented with appropriate supervision.

BeignetPommes · 19/09/2023 17:55

Yes, they are all the same. No decent person of sound mind would WANT one of these dogs

Completely agree.

Twistedex · 19/09/2023 17:55

But you know that not all bullies have cropped tails and ears, right? So that doesn't really fit with this theory that ALL XL owners are as thick as pig shit and common as muck.

That's surprising seeing as according to the Office of National Statistics there have only been 2 deaths by Jack Russells in the last 50 years.

NotQuiteHere · 19/09/2023 17:57

Greenshake · 19/09/2023 16:47

That’s totally untrue. Why don’t you read what Twistedex has just written?

Did Twistedex give the reason why to have this breed though?

She wrote:
"They're also extremely intelligent, loving dogs who are eager to please and easy to train if you put the time and effort in that you should put into owning any dog"
This could be said about many other breeds, why choose XL Bully? Because her friends had "accidental" litter?

People always say that their dog is trained and will never hurt anybody. They are of course wrong, nobody cannot reliably predict an animal's behaviour, so the owners must be ready to restrain their dog but it is hardly physically possible with breeds like that.

Twistedex · 19/09/2023 16:19

Let’s just compromise at the vast majority

SnowyPetals · 19/09/2023 17:57

Yep, the breed is being banned because they attract irresponsible owners who keep them in inappropriate environments. Not all, but a lot. The responsible owners can choose from all the hundreds of breeds that aren't banned.
