There they are, crowing the pavements, stepping out from behind parked cars, trying to cross the road, pressing the sodding button on the crossing just as you are approaching! Aaargh!

Damn these common people who choose to walk everywhere! They really ought to be taxed!

Amen to that!

Rhubarb · 04/03/2008 17:03

All hail to the man in Americ who is suing the family of the person he ran over for damage to the front of his car!

OP posts:
GrapefruitMoon · 04/03/2008 17:03

Yeah and they dare to walk on the pavement forcing cyclists to slow down...

Rhubarb · 04/03/2008 17:04

crowing? Americ? I change my views to become more Toryish and my spelling suddenly deteriorates - is there a link?

you should try driving through edinburgh city centre during the day.

if i had a £1 for every tourist who stepped out in front of my car while trying to get a better look at something

Hassled · 04/03/2008 17:06

Sometimes, when I'm in that contrary mood that makes me feel the need to be a pedestrian, I press the button on the crossing even if I'm not crossing the road....just because I can. Then I smile at all the stopped cars.

Desiderata · 04/03/2008 17:07

But cars should be banned from Edinburgh city centre. They make the place look untidy.

Rhubarb · 04/03/2008 17:08

I think it is the responsibility of the pedestrian to dodge the cars who choose to ignore the green man at the crossing. After all it's their fault for the times they've pressed it and then not crossed!

If they infringe on our space (i.e. the road) then they have to accept the risks that accompany it.

lol the ones with a pushchair particularly annoy me why would you actually use a pushchair that you could drive around with in the boot?

kerryk · 04/03/2008 17:09

until they invent a bus in edinburgh that does not stop every 10 flippin metres i will be sticking with the car. make the wonder so many people are fat in this city.

before anyone makes any comment about me being in my car i only use it to drive through the city centre every 2nd week for college, i did try the bus once but was nearly sick with all the stopping and starting.

Desiderata · 04/03/2008 17:10

And they sometimes walk on pavements as well, when everyone knows that pavements are the residential equivalent of the hard shoulder.

Rhubarb · 04/03/2008 17:11

Just think of what joy it would be if everyone drove a 4x4! How pleasant the school runs would be! The government should actually tax 4x4 drivers less as they keep the population down and therefore save the government money!

OP posts:
Quadrophenia · 04/03/2008 17:11

get rid of the pavements, make the roads wider, thats what I say.

Quadrophenia · 04/03/2008 17:12

we could all wave at eachother from behind our compact mirror whilst applying lipstick at the lights, oh what fun

Rhubarb · 04/03/2008 17:13

And text each other whilst wondering about the number of speed bumps there seem to be, particularly around schools!

OP posts:
lollipopmother · 04/03/2008 17:14

But what about the smug bastards that wear skates and then skate ON THE ROAD! No I'm sorry, just because you've got wheels on your feet doesn't mean that you're not a pedestrian, you can't use the sodding road, it's for cars!

alfiesbabe · 04/03/2008 17:14

Absolutely Rhubarb. Didnt you realise the 4x4 drivers arent really greedy selfish bastards, they really buy them to keep the pavements clear!

claricebeansmum · 04/03/2008 17:16

Annoys me when people stand on the pavement meaning I can't park up on it

Rhubarb · 04/03/2008 17:17

I think more roads should be widen to allow for them. Sod the M&B parking in supermarkets, special parking bays should be set up for 4x4s. Bull bars should come as standard to protect the car from damage when it's in collison with a pedestrian. They truly are Kings of the Road!

OP posts:
Rhubarb · 04/03/2008 17:17

Pavements actually are parking places. When will people realise this?

OP posts:
Quadrophenia · 04/03/2008 17:18

the pavements outside schools should certainly be abolished, think of all that parking

lollipopmother · 04/03/2008 17:18

Rhubarb - have you ever been to America? The parking spaces there are HUUUUUUUGE!

claricebeansmum · 04/03/2008 17:20

That's what the zigzags are for outside school I thought? Parking for when you are too posh to get out of your car

Rhubarb · 04/03/2008 17:20

Just park in the school playground dear like I do, then you can just open the door and the little dears can get out and in school in 5 paces! The less time their precious little feet touch the ground the better, some bloody Pedestrian, might push them over!

OP posts:
Quadrophenia · 04/03/2008 17:21

clarice thanks for clarifying that
