To leave my kids alone in the bath?

My kids are 5 and 2.5.
I'm a single parent working full time and living in a small 2 bedroom flat.
When my kids go in the bath I use this time to tidy up after dinner, make packed lunches and prepare for bedtime. My flat is tiny so I am never far away from them. I listen the entire time and check on them every few minutes, I'm very tuned into what they are doing which is usually playing calmly and happily together. There are times when one gets upset or they squabble and when this happens I sit in there with them or get them out, but most of the time they're fine.
Am I unreasonable for doing this?

YANBU - using this time to get on with chores is fine, you check on them regularly.

YABU - they are too young to be left alone in the bath regardless of how close by you are.

@Bafftime Good for you OP.
You asked and you took on board the responses.
It must be tough having two kids on your own.
You sound like a really good mum, getting advice when you're not sure.
Ignore the nasty comments and really glad you will be making the change.

Please dont. It only takes a second, and you might not hear anything amiss, and the 5 yo might not realise (and what a tragedy to leave them responsible). they dont need a bath every night! Once a week is fine! Hierarchy of needs - safety first, cleanliness and chores not crucial. Quick bath fine.

I actually saw footage of a woman who's dc drowned in a safety seat whilst sat on her phone.. Dc was feet away. Now he is 6 feet down. The footage was obviously banned from YouTube but was on for a short time. Fucking grim watching...

I have a 4 year old and a 7 year old and I still sit with them when they are in the bath. I will pop out to the next room to get PJ's etc but I wouldn't do that with a child younger than 4. The only chore you can really get away with at the moment is cleaning the bathroom....then you are right there.
