Got a meeting invite late tonight titled simply: Working from home'. Scheduled for half an hour. No additional info.

What are they gonna say?

Return to the office full time? Full time WFH???

Your guess is as good as mine. We're currently in once every two weeks.

Results posted in here tomorrow once the meeting has been held.

Yanbu = back to office
Yabu = WFH

YANBU they will have decided they need people in to make sure everyone is working

woodyscowboyhat · 12/09/2023 01:26

More regular office attendance as people haven't been pulling their weight?

bossybloss · 12/09/2023 01:28

I just hope that they don’t tell you they are getting rid of the office and you are permanently wfh as it’s a nightmare 🤣🤣

WhatapityWapiti · 12/09/2023 01:30

Neither, it will be to clarify ground rules for current arrangement.

ThinWomansBrain · 12/09/2023 01:30

1:1 meeting or full team/large group?

coxesorangepippin · 12/09/2023 01:34

For office based work I don't understand the connection.

Some people work perfectly well at home.

Lead swingers are perfectly capable of doing so in the office.

VisionsOfSplendour · 12/09/2023 06:34

No idea what the meeting might be about but I'm intrigued by your # what does thinwoman mean?

Oysterbabe · 12/09/2023 06:37

They're going to increase the office days.

@VisionsOfSplendour I think she meant to tag the poster ThinWomansBrain

Thank you , I was wracking my brain about what that might mean 😂

Mumof2teens79 · 12/09/2023 06:45

No-one is being unreasonable. It's a meeting.
My guess would be increase days in...Once a fortnight is nothing. I am expected in 3 days a week. In reality often I am in 4 because although I work well at home it's easier to know what is going on when in the office

GnomeDePlume · 12/09/2023 06:48

Who knows? IME a meeting invitation titled like that could have nothing to do with WFH and just meant that the meeting (actually about this months results, next month's targets or the price of fish) will be on Teams/Zoom.

It was interesting when routine WFH started to see how different people reacted. People who had been excellent performers in the office dipped in performance. A particular colleague who was notorious for being late for anything and everything suddenly became totally focused once he no longer had office distractions.

AnonyLonnymouse · 12/09/2023 06:50

I’m also having problems reading this thread.

I read @BarbaraofSeville reference to ‘lead swingers’ (e.g. lazy people’) to mean ‘the leaders of swinging activity’! ;)

It’s probably easier for leading swingers to find other swingers in the office, to be fair!

Viviennemary · 12/09/2023 06:52

About time this wfh nonsense was stopped.

MyusernameABC · 12/09/2023 06:52

My company has recently advised that staff should be dressed appropriately when WFH, not in casual wear (t shirts, tracksuits etc) and dressed as they would typically be for the office - think video calls, meetings etc.

shutterup · 12/09/2023 06:56

As it's only half an hour, sounds like a 'telling' rather than a consultation.

So I'm going to guess the least impactful: Permanently work from home.

About time this wfh nonsense was stopped.

Why?

I am hybrid but see clients f2f so some weeks am at home almost completely and sometimes out and about all week.

I don't know why it bothers some about others choices.

I struggled with WFH when it started because I wasn't set up for it. Once I set myself up I prefer it. No commute. Pop a load of washing in while boiling the kettle. Cheap lunches. Much better work/life balance. I hope we never go back.

Why?

It's about time people that want everything one way, their way, we're stopped too.

Fairyliz · 12/09/2023 07:02

I’m sorry if it’s not what you want op but as a consumer I do hope it means everyone back to the office.
As a consumer the service provided by every single organisation I deal with has been abysmal. Yes I know some of it is Brexit, Covid etc but I’m sure a lot of it is wfh. People don’t seem to understand their jobs and systems, how are they going to learn stuck in a bedroom?

OnAFrolicOfMyOwn · 12/09/2023 07:04

Could be asking for hybrid working rather than full back to the office.

Gcsunnyside23 · 12/09/2023 07:06

They are upping the in office/ WFH ratio. You'll probably have to go in at least weekly if not more

Dorksdirectdotcom · 12/09/2023 07:06

In the office once a week minimum.

Ours have just asked more people to WFH more as we ran out of hot desks and it's SO busy in the office.
