Mean Girls, Titanic, Ghost, Notting Hill…

Loved watching them all again. I’m not saying it was quality.

Sgtmajormummy · 10/09/2023 01:11

In the days of VHS and DVDs you felt obliged to watch them more than once!

Apart from being force fed Disney, Jurassic Park, HP, LOTR by the children, I can say I’ve watched these films at least twice:

All Quentin Tarantino, Merchant-Ivory, Steven Spielberg, Mike Leigh, Richard Curtis.
Films with Julia Roberts, Tommy Lee Jones, Tom Cruise, Daniel Day-Lewis. Maggie Smith, Tom Hanks, Dev Patel, Morgan Freeman. And my heart-throb Jeremy Irons!
The usual Christmas films.
The usual costume dramas.
And the DVD I go back to in times of need is “1900, The Legend of the Pianist on the Ocean.”

Mr. Turner

Michael. Lots of people have never heard of it but it's my favourite film.

Delightful film

Catsmere · 10/09/2023 02:12

Lots - it's like books, if I don't want to see/read it again, it's a waste of money.

Ones I've seen many times over the decades are The Italian Job, The Wrong Box, Ruthless People, The Triplets of Belleville, Bram Stoker's Dracula (used to go to the cinema when it came out, saw it multiple times there), Cold Comfort Farm, Sense and Sensibility, The Scarlet Pimpernel (the Anthony Andrews version), Casablanca, To Kill a Mockingbird, Kind Hearts and Coronets, Steel Magnolias, The Full Monty ...

echt · 10/09/2023 02:15

Too many to list and I concur with so many already mentioned but a soft spot for "Dean Spanley", a film which all dog lovers would love, though it's not actually about dogs in any conventional sense, i.e "Marley".

Is that the one where he thinks he's a vampire or do I have the wrong film

No it's the 1996 one with John Travolta as an angel.

PupInAPram · 10/09/2023 08:38

@FancyFran oh yes, To Sir With Love! I missed The Shawshank Redemption off my list but I have definitely watched it more than once. It seems to be a winner with most folk judging by this thread. I forgot musicals, but Grease, Hairspray and West Side Story are also on my list.

FancyFran · 10/09/2023 08:42

@PupInAPram we have hundreds of dvds. I love film. Best thing ever when bored, miserable etc.
My DD did film for A level. She wanted something for her not for her degree. Book fan too.
