Mean Girls, Titanic, Ghost, Notting Hill…

Loved watching them all again. I’m not saying it was quality.

Melancholia - just watched it again off the back of this thread. Disturbing, multi-layered, and open to so many interpretations. I love it, but it always leaves me feeling a bit bereft.

Then there's the original Fantasia (Disney) just delightful escapism and visual pyrotechnics :)

Two Christmas traditions - the Wizard of Oz, and Die Hard

The Adventures of Robin Hood (Errol Flynn, Olivia de Havilland) is brilliant - I watch it every couple of years just for the energy and the nostalgia of it all. Pirates of the Caribbean gives off a similar vibe, and that's another one I could watch multiple times.

Then there's Camelot, the musical - Richard Harris and Vanessa Redgrave - such a wonderful combination of great tunes, fantastic set pieces, and human tragedy.

If in the mood, the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy, plus the
Hobbit 'should-not-have-been-a-trilogy-but-on-balance-I-guess-you-can't-have-too-much-of-a-good-thing'.

Of course, The Princess Bride - best film ever made!

jackles · 09/09/2023 21:24

As a child I saw The Wizard of Oz many times.

Now - Lord of the Rings - a few times

But mostly The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Best film ever

notlucreziaborgia · 09/09/2023 21:51

Bram Stoker’s Dracula
The Death of Stalin
Enemy at the Gate
Extra Ordinary

There’s more, but these are the ones that immediately come to mind.

JudgeJ · 09/09/2023 21:58

Harry Potter and Bridesmaids lol I rarely watching things more than once

I thought 'That's a Harry Potter fim I missed, HP the Bridesmaids'

ThinWomansBrain · 09/09/2023 21:59

Star Wars - the first one, three times a day for six weeks
Was an usherette at a cinema through the school holidays

  • always missed the beginning - showing people to their seats
  • the bits around the interval - getting the ice cream tray ready.

Other than that, watched About a Boy a few times - mostly filmed near where I live, spot new places each time.

Weird French film at the cinema - I left half way through the first time it was so bad, but oddly seemed ok second time around (I had cinema membership)

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy - always lose the plot a bit.
