To tell my cat he is insane

Hi

I'm sweltering in 30 degrees , inside is cooler at 24 with blinds drawn

One of my cats is inside with me, the other an ex stray tomcat, black, is refusing to come inside apart from trips in for food or use his litter tray , he is resolutely sitting under a parasol in garden on a chair

Aibu to think I should coax him in and shut the door to garden?

Mine has just moseyed towards his food bowl from the dining room where he has been lying in front of the (closed) French windows in full sun. Think he’s off out to find a cooler spot under a bush!

My very fluffy void would happily bake himself on the patio all day but he ends up panting and worrying me so we’ve compromised on sunbathing in the window instead! He gets to go out when it’s cooler, around 5pm.

My black cat is also lying in the garden! They are desert animals. He'll be fine.

So is mine! Why? Ok he’s in the shade but we brought him in because it’s a bit cooler indoors with the fan on but no, he went straight back out. Loon

Mine has the door to the catio open and the choice of a chair with heatpads and one without.
Hottest day ever and she is using the one with 2 heatpads, and is as close to the one that covers the back of the chair as she can get.
She is also black.

Mine is laying in the sun, with all of the fur, doing a really good impression of a dead cat. She's not normally tolerant of any human touching but I've tickled her all over today and she literally cannot be arsed to move. She's also skipping her evening meals at the moment due to the heat, she's definitely a fan of this weather.

Didn't cats originally come from the desert? He'll be fine. They're not daft when it comes to their needs.

Domestic cats are descended from cats originating in hot climates including Egypt, yes. It is believed the common ancestor is Felis sylvestris lybica which is a sandy, slightly stripey pale brown. Not black. How black cats stand the heat is beyond me.

I'm glad I'm not the only carer of a black cat scratching my head at their behaviour in this heat!

Mine is an inside cat but has given up on the windowsill because he thought he might get some of my tuna sandwich but he fell asleep while he was waiting.

@Nocatnocry look this is clearly highly classified cat business L, you have absolutely no right to judge.

You need to understand you’re an inferior being that can’t catch its own food, climb a tree/fence, see in the dark and requires a shower/bath to keep clean - so keep your opinions to yourself😋

(At least this is what my cat tells 20 times a day with her eyes.)

A cat will never make itself uncomfortable! I was very surprised that my black longhaired Persians had the sense to sit in the shade!

My kitten has only been allowed to start going outside for the past week or so, but I've refused today with the heat so she's put herself on my bed Infront of the fan 😂😂

At least he is under a parasol. My dog, a show type cocker spaniel, was sat in the full blazing sun panting her head off! She sat there for a good while before deciding she might be better off sitting in the shade🤔
Our old cat see to love sitting on the padding of our old trampoline, right up next to the netting, baking himself in the sun. He was almost too hot to touch sometimes🫠

My very elderly kitkat has a grassy nest she spends all day in, another black cat resolutely sticking 2 toe beans up to the weather. Insane, the lot of them!

My cat has developed a foot fetish this summer.

He licks bare feet
He rubs up against bare feet
He rolls around the floor with sandles/flip flops if you take them off when you sit down

BUT

Every now & again he bites a bare foot or ankle

It's like some kind of cat 🐈 roulette here
