To tell my cat he is insane

Hi

I'm sweltering in 30 degrees , inside is cooler at 24 with blinds drawn

One of my cats is inside with me, the other an ex stray tomcat, black, is refusing to come inside apart from trips in for food or use his litter tray , he is resolutely sitting under a parasol in garden on a chair

Aibu to think I should coax him in and shut the door to garden?

🤣🤣

Hellocatshome · 09/09/2023 13:21

Don't forget the sun cream if they have white ears.

Purplecatshopaholic · 09/09/2023 13:22

My very furry half Maine Coon is snoozing under the rhododendron bush, lol. Other two are lying on a furry rug in full sun in my conservatory. Bonkers the lot of them…

ADHDGURL · 09/09/2023 13:24

Omg.. not just my dimlow then. .. tried to "cuddle" me all night...like sleeping with a furry radiator

Nocatnocry · 09/09/2023 13:24

Ok, I am being thoroughly unreasonable to bring him in!

I will take him fresh water and cool cat pate and treats periodically to sustain him!

I'm sat outside in the shade because there's a nice breeze, and while it probably is warmer out here than the house, it feels cooler.

So I'm on team cat!

Ime you can tell a cat anything you like, but they won't take any notice.

I had one that loved to be as hot as possible. He would lie on the garage roof in full sunshine. I swear his insides must have been baked.

Jaxhog · 09/09/2023 13:27

All cats are insane; that's why we love them!

ShadyPaws · 09/09/2023 13:28

My new boy is here, with a fan on him
He seems far too sensible to be a cat

Mine is baking in a sun patch! Think they're a bit more sensible than dogs and will move if it gets too much. Dogs will just sit there looking dozey. I'd have to get my dog as he doesn't have a heat filter. 🤣

Guarantee if that was a hot water bottle he'd sit on it too 😂

Kittensat36 · 09/09/2023 13:35

"Harshing my mellow" - that is one of the all time greatest phrases ever. And it SO applies to cats. I can almost hear next door's cat say that when I take his face out of one of my girls' food bowls. "Hey man, stop harshing my mellow."

NoTeaNoShade · 09/09/2023 13:41

YABU for not sharing pictures.

More cat pics please!

Oh my dog is the opposite, anything over 18° and he’s lying on the kitchen tiles in his cooling collar. He is all black though. Cats love sunbathing though so yours is totally normal @Nocatnocry .

Horriblewoman · 09/09/2023 13:49

Found one in the unbearably warm conservatory.

Found the other in the loft room which also unsurprisingly unbearably warm.

rest of the marginally cooler house is ignored.

Watto1 · 09/09/2023 13:50

Our cat has spent most of this week in the greenhouse. Bonkers.

Nocatnocry · 09/09/2023 13:52

Mr Mellow, taken the other day. I'm not going out again in this heat.

amylou8 · 09/09/2023 13:56

My conservatory is hotter than hell once the sun comes over. I struggle to stay out there long enough to hang washing on the airer. One of mine insists on lying out there for hours. I don't know how he doesn't cook.

GreyCarpet · 09/09/2023 13:57

Love that.

I don't have cats but I do have two rabbits who live in a hutch on the lawn with a very large run attached. We have a very shady end of the garden which is lovely and cool. The rabbits lie stretched out in the run in the shade and a couple of the neighbourhood cats often join them! Not in the run but next to it.

They all know each other are there - sometimes they'll have a little catch up nose sniff through the run and then lie next to each other in the shade together.
