How much drinking is too much?

Just your own thoughts 😊

I would have 2-3 bottles prosecco per week. Spread throughout the week - say one on Wednesday, Friday, Sunday.

Is this excessive to you?

I drink a bottle and feel.completely fine and capable to deal.with an emergency and as a full time worker and single mum I am keen to know your thoughts

fYI I don't binge drink on one day

I don't think it's an insane amount but a little too much. Could you be half a bottle twice and one bottle on a weekend night? You probably wouldn't feel like you were missing out any but it's a third less so adds up!

@ellie09 check out Kate Bee’s Sober School. Loads of great resources.

I’ve given up drinking (after being a three bottles of wine a week mum) and I feel so much better for it.

Well obviously it's too much according to government guidelines. But just as people do with BMI, you can tell yourself it's wrong/doesn't apply to you/doesn't affect YOUR health if you like. Most people are in denial or adopt a defiant stance about something they enjoy, be it food, drink, not excercising.
My advice is don't let it creep up, and cut right back in your 50s.

@ClaraMarmalade

Bravo. I find the tweeification of alcoholism to make it girl friendly pretty sinister. “Mummy needs wine/gin” merch, giant wine glasses, cringey memes etc.

I drink and I’m not naive about the fact people will drink to excess anyway without all this naff stuff but someone is trying to find a gap in the market to exploit female heavy drinking and pass it off as feminism. It’s creepy.
