When texting, my pet peeve is use of πŸ‘, is this just me who finds it rude? To explain why I find use of it rude, it’s been used in response to questions and some other situations like sharing a photo.

Yes πŸ‘

BCBird · 03/09/2023 20:34

I don't find it rude at all.

Thelondonone · 03/09/2023 20:34

Why would it be? It means yes, I agree to meet you where we’ve just agreed at a specific time. Or showing you’ve read and agreed with someone else’s post.

Bogeyes · 03/09/2023 20:34

Yes. It's like being fobbed off

jallopeno · 03/09/2023 20:35

πŸ‘

Thisisthedawningoftheageofaquarius · 03/09/2023 20:35

YABU πŸ‘

jallopeno · 03/09/2023 20:35

Yeah it's rude unless used by my parents

HunterHearstHelmsley · 03/09/2023 20:35

Depends on the message and intent.

You've really upset me πŸ‘πŸ»is rude.

Shall we meet at the pub at 7pm? πŸ‘πŸ» is not rude.

wavws · 03/09/2023 20:36

It depends who’s using it. Some people particularly use it in a passive aggressive way. Others don’t

Herewe · 03/09/2023 20:36

To me it simply means, Yes or great.
whats it mean to you?

I don't think it is rude - I think its 'yes I agree' or 'yes I have saw this'

Muchtoomuchtodo · 03/09/2023 20:36

Really? What makes it rude?

I hope you’re an anomaly op as I use it loads and hope I’ve not offended a load of my friends!

CheeseCakeSunflowers · 03/09/2023 20:37

In my world its just shorthand for OK, over and out.

Yabu. If you think that's rude you are impossibly over-sensitive and need to get a grip.

Same. For when there’s that last acknowledgment but it would be weird to actually write a sentence. Or just β€˜that’s fine’ etc.

museumum · 03/09/2023 20:39

I’ve heard the young uns say it’s rude. But then I’ve also heard them say full stops are rude.
shrug.
i use it all the time to mean β€˜like’ in a fab way or to mean β€˜yes, or ok’

Plump82 · 03/09/2023 20:39

I think it's rude and to me says I've got nothing better to say to you.

That’s interesting! I think their use of no full stops is rude. And what it is it they have against capital letters?!

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 03/09/2023 20:41

I think it’s just used to indicate agreement. Where perhaps there’s not much else to say.

Obviously would be very annoying if given in response to a question with alternatives!

Applesaarenttheonlyfruit · 03/09/2023 20:42

β€˜See you at 8’

β€™πŸ‘πŸ»β€™

Really, does anything else need saying?

Context is king here I think

RoseyLentil · 03/09/2023 20:43

Weird.

Pleasenowthatsenough · 03/09/2023 20:43

I find it incredibly rude too.

ZooMount · 03/09/2023 20:44

Depends on the context though surely? I asked my DH to pick up milk earlier and he replied with that. Would you find that rude?
