Just for fun.

Mine is the woman who posted for advice about what to do about her husband who was talking to their cat really sensually. Not baby talk but like sensuous loving ”ooh your fur is so good my darling pussycat” and it gave her the absolute ick.

Every time I talk to my dog I remember her and chuckle. I wonder how she’s doing 😂

Riven lived in Bristol

I must be confused, I know her Dd had a welsh name, was it Celyn ? And she had teenagers as well.

She managed to get David Cameron to come and visit her to highlight the lack of respite for families like hers .

VoluptuaSneezelips · 03/09/2023 00:57

Not sure if it's been mentioned already, the thread where a couple were having sex in the OP's hedge, she could hear everything being said and done between them so people started giving her funny suggestions on what to do. She ended up taking out a speaker and hitting shuffle on the music - it blasted out a very rude 90's r&b song.🤣 . It was so funny it still makes me chuckle and sometimes I'll shout 'The woman likes a bum finger' at my other half.

EDIT: I found it. https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/mumsnet_classics/3288349-people-keep-having-sex-in-my-hedge?postsby=eurgh

I've thought of another - there was a thread about things that seemed ordinary to you growing up, but which were actually very unusual indeed. One poster had spent her childhood living in a centuries-old house that sounded like Smuggler's Top (Famous Five book), with secret passages in the hillside that it was built on!

I would so love to have known whereabouts in the country that was.

noodlezoodle · 03/09/2023 01:03

Another person who often wonders what happened to that bloody ironing board! Where did it go?

I remember MortalEnemy and her thread about whether her colleague liked her. She ended the thread because someone was horrible to her about it and she felt uncomfortable writing about a real person, but I often think of her and hope the story had a happy ending.

Lastly the one that made me cry laughing - the woman who was at the dentist and when he said 'suction' to his assistant, she thought he was talking to her and sucked his finger.

Beargrumps22 · 03/09/2023 01:05

The crazy things new mums do and the dressing gown of doom stick in my mind

I knew Bonsoir in real life. She had a real obsession with food and not getting fat, yet her daughter - who was delightful - was a real little podge.

How is Bonsoir? Her dd is around the same age as my dd and must be in university by now.

DrFoxtrot · 03/09/2023 01:10

I keep remembering things 😂

The poster who's family harmonised happy birthday and everyone agreed it was cringeworthy - then someone came on the thread to admit she did it and tried to explain herself by saying it was the gift of her voice as she had nothing else to give. Brilliant read.

So this is terribly vague, but it was in Relationships, I think about getting "the ick" and a poster said an ex sort of mumbled "hnmmm let the dog see the rabbit" when presented with anything "from food to tits". My husband says this sometimes and I always remember this op.

My husband is crying 😂😂😂

FatherJackHackettsUnderpantsHamper · 03/09/2023 01:17

The pooing man one was amazing, but rather spoilt now as the OP had all of her posts deleted.

Tiny wanker instead of whiney tinker. Said by a mum to her toddler in a doctors surgery waiting room

This!

Penis beaker, Sistine chapel and snapped and farted were the least funny threads ever

I agree with you.

And I still laugh about hedge sex.

I agree as well. Not seen the hedge sex thread yet.

Two random threads that made me laugh and stay in my head

I'm interested too, last I heard she was really unwell.
She was bonkers, and not always in a good way but I'd never wish bad on her, I'm sure she meant well.

Can y’all post links? I’m new here so I’m missing out, and the search feature isn’t working for me.

I also often think about the fat balls. One of my favourite threads ever.

Fat balls is my favourite

Underminer · 03/09/2023 02:55

So many have been posted already: Ermagerd the Quern, Your Minge!, making a face not a fist etc

Others I remember are the poster who had a garden building put up by a company that turned out to be dodgy, and her battle with them.

Also, someone at the dentist where the dentist said, “open wide, bite down, suction” and the op sucked the dentist’s fingers 🤣🤣🤣🤣

RunningAwayToJoinTheCircus · 03/09/2023 03:00

Lighthearted posts I remember fondly are the lemon drizzle cake PTA with buppers, and the glorious post when someone said David Cameron has a "face like a freshly wanked cock"
The most moving one was a poster whose daughter was murdered, and she spoke about the man who found her. He stayed by her, held her hand, and covered her with his coat "so she wouldn't be alone" until the police arrived. It was just heartbraking, and stays with me.

I remember the Australian kid. It was a teenage relationship and his GF was trying to convince him to drop out of school.

He was half living with her parents and it was all very messy. Wonder how it ended.

OP updated a while after. They had finally split up and after being devastated and broken for a while, he was getting back on track. I can’t remember the details but the gf had done a lot more than OP knew about but it came out after.

beenwhereyouare · 03/09/2023 03:21

@SussexLass87
I definitely remember the first one, where the husband let everyone think he had told her he cheated with colleague right before the wedding, when in fact the confession was actually a "discussion" about wedding flowers and blew over very quickly. Consequently most people in their family/friends circle thought she knew about the cheating and was very forgiving (OW by now was very involved with the group) to be able to be close to the OW. Everyone knew but her, even OW's husband.

I felt so bad for her; her threads really stuck in my head. I PM'ed her once to check that she and her girls were okay. Never heard back; she may have wanted to forget the thread or perhaps she thought I was nosy. Really, I just hoped that everything got better for her.

Ontheperiphery79 · 03/09/2023 03:40

The Voldemutt one AND the person who was on holiday with a friend and her daughter (the OP seemed to be relishing the melodramatic narrative she created around the daughter's behaviour).

ZeldaWillTellYourFortune · 03/09/2023 04:02

I remember one where people admitted to feeling pity for the last bean, potato or whatever left uneaten in the bowl.

Amused me because i do, too!

It's the one that got me hooked. I really did cry with laughter.

Newyearnewjobnewlife · 03/09/2023 04:13

I wasn’t on mumsnet at the time so didn’t know expat had the thread but I knew her family so if you are reading this I just want to let you know I always think of Aillidh when I hear “call me maybe”, her singing along to that at the top of her voice is the way I’ve remembered her

Newyearnewjobnewlife · 03/09/2023 04:34

The lady with the husband who told her when she could shower and wouldn’t always let her , he completely controlled everything, she worked for his business, she had to sit at the table with him if he took work home, he convinced her she wouldn’t be capable of training/a job she had gotten and she would make a fool of herself so she turned it down, I think she managed to get a rented house and was planning to leave but as far as I know she never did update and most likely stayed, I think of her and hope she did get away but when I see a news story of a husband murdering his wife I wonder if it is her.

The Saturday pooing man taking his daughter to a club every week.

This was the first thread I ever read on Mumsnet before I’d made an account. I was hooked for days and read so many pages of it for hours.

Still the best thread I‘ve seen on here.
