ASOS foot models

#lighthearted#

I was buying shoes from ASOS earlier.

I was surprised to see what looked like bunions, piggy toes, scrappy raggedy toe nails, unpainted toes...I could go on. I wouldn't expect to see this from a company trying to sell shoes.

AIBU to expect some effort to glamourise the feet?

Very few people have pretty feet. I've got bunions and fallen arches and all sorts, so even when I have a nice pedicure and lovely smooth skin they still aren't beautiful.

I think moving away from this need for women to look perfect all the time is a good thing. Normal women have normal feet, and faces, and bums and stomachs - I like seeing more of that because it's relatable.

LardoBurrows · 01/09/2023 12:00

Well Op is going to end up with bunions if she wears those badly made, ill fitting sandals.

MassiveOvaryaction · 01/09/2023 13:33

@Globules you do know you're buying the shoes and not the feet right?

What? With these feet?

Beezknees · 01/09/2023 13:58

I might see if they're hiring! My crooked second toes will fit in well.

Bumblebee112 · 01/09/2023 14:04

🤣🤣 if you think these are ‘bad’ feet, come and work with me for the day in my shoe shop 😅

Those feet are fine.

I once saw a jewellery company advertising earrings and the models piercing looked so red and painful. I thought that was bizarre

The white shoe foot has a bunion.

Other examples on the website have got feet in much need of a pedicure. Was surprised to see hang nails earlier.

Didn't stop me buying the shoes mind you!

You must have been looking really hard to spot all the things that you name here

itsmylife7 · 01/09/2023 14:31

I think it's brilliant showing "real " feet.

we can then see what our, not perfect , feet will look in the new shoes.

Moveoverdarlin · 01/09/2023 15:30

They look absolutely fine. Her nails are painted a very subtle beige colour. Early sign of bunions on one foot but that is very common with models.

BillStickersWillBeProsocuted · 01/09/2023 15:49

You'd think they'd want to put their best foot forward

Bored1000 · 01/09/2023 15:59

Her feet look great…..you have too much time on your hands……you are probably the type of woman who loves to criticise and tear apart other women out of jealousy

Cynicaltheorist · 01/09/2023 16:05

It's either a cheap down-market website selling plastic shoes to the masses, the majority of whom won't have perfect feet, so it's fine.

Or Asos have taken on board that women are sick of seeing clothes and shoes modelled by underweight teens and want to see what the goods look like on ordinary bodies or feet.

Anything that confirms to ordinary women with ordinary bodies and bunions and weird toes and (heavens!) unpainted toenails that they are okay as they are and don't need to hide away lest they offend anyone's eye is fine by me.

RobertaFirmino · 01/09/2023 16:12

What on earth are 'piggy toes'? Pigs have trotters.

I was looking for shoes. I got distracted by the not perfect feet on several pictures of shoes I was looking at, so I ended up looking at every foot I clicked on as well as every shoe they were wearing.

I've never seen non perfect feet advertising shoes before. It took me by surprise.

The first few posters with their silly pictures had the right idea of why I posted. Geez, some of you need to lighten up!

I wouldn’t have noticed anything. I mean, do you go round noticing stuff like this in real life people’s feet?

That’s what I mean, even when you pointed it out I had to zoom in to see. I wouldn’t have noticed if I was just looking at shoes.

I notice an awful lot of detail about an awful lot of stuff, yes.

LunaandLily · 01/09/2023 17:35

I’m with you OP! I have long observed that the main ASOS foot model has horrible feet!

fettuccini · 01/09/2023 18:12

Personally, as someone who suffered with adult acne, I love to see 'zits' on models. Because it's perfectly normal. You are the problem.

ElFupacabra · 01/09/2023 18:16

Says the person crying over a model with a bunion.

Then you must find life perpetually disappointing.

ASDMumof2 · 01/09/2023 18:39

@Globules you are right! I see the weirdest feet in model pics, it's like look at this gorg/stunning model in size 6/8 clothes (dream on if you think you'll look like this in it you hefer) but look you're feet will look positively amazing in these shoes cos our model with hideous feet managed to pull them off!!

Feet should not have corns, bunions or other probs created by wearing ill fitting shoes.
