Also food/drink you used to hate..
Im a previous complete caffeine head, now I can't even stand the smell of coffee.
Used to think beetroot was vile stuff, can't believe it's one of my favourite foods now.

Meat - it's really odd, I used to be a fervent meat eater, then one day in the meat aisle I had the impression of being in a horror film with body parts on display all around me. Maybe I just watch too much horror 😆

Tuna.

spiggydit · 29/08/2023 09:43

I never was much of a drinker but I used to enjoy a glass of red wine to relax with. Nowadays as I lurch into my 60's, any alcohol beyond a thimbleful gives me a headache, makes me anxious and feel generally rough. I miss it

As a child I used to love Primula on a cracker for my breakfast, I couldn’t bear the thought of eating cheese from a tube now and I certainly wouldn’t let my children eat it.

caramacyears · 29/08/2023 09:49

Not sure if they even make it any more but I used to love Condensed Milk on puddings and even on bread. It would make me sick now!

Early 40's and I used to love creamy foods like creme brûlée, ice cream and custard. Now they give me stomach ache. Even quiche (baked egg) can make me feel off.

Fish and chips have also started to disagree with me too. I think it's the batter.

Chocolate milk/milkshake. Used to be able to drink the stuff by the gallon. But now it just makes me feel bloated and sicky.

Valerie23 · 29/08/2023 10:23

It's textures that have changed for me.

I don't t like eating anything hard and crunchy anymore.

Girlfrom15YearsAgo · 29/08/2023 10:40

I was an absolute chilli fiend. Would add chilli to everything, always had a bottle of hot sauce on the go and even used to eat chillies raw, straight off the plant. Since peri, I only need to look at a chilli and I'll be doubled over in pain. Eating a spicy dish will make me ill for an entire day afterwards.

Also shellfish - I used to eat lots of seafood of every type but pretty much overnight developed an anaphylactic reaction to crustaceans.

Apples - not as bad as the above but they do cause mild stomach discomfort and farting. Cooked apples are fine though which is good as I don't think I could give up apple pie and crumble. My waistline would prefer that I just eat a bloody apple though.

Early Grey Tea gives me heartburn.

So many things are now too sweet for me. I seem to pick up sugar in lots of items and the sweetness makes me feel ill.

On the other side of things - I spent over 40 years thinking blue cheese looked and smelled horrific but all of a sudden started to find it quite appetising and now I love it.

Yes! I feel your pain, also pork crackling. Love it but teeth can't hack it😭

Lol. Sometimes, the longing gets too much so I cut up the porkies into tiny pieces and eat them individually. I let them soften a little in my mouth before crunching them up carefully.

🤣 people say why not just get the puffy scratchings but they just ain't the same are they🤨

Mrsjayy · 29/08/2023 12:44

Puffy scratchings sound horrific 😃

@Wednesdaysotherchild this weirdly started for me straight after covid. (Age 60) Headaches, neck pain and weird neuropathy and sore eyes. If I stay off it it calms right down - I have no idea if I'm coeliac or not , possibly gluten ataxia and I don't want weeks of pain to have the test, so I just keep off it.

Newtrix · 29/08/2023 14:22

Any meat, literally out if nowhere. Definitely not pregnant, never had covid or the jab.

JSmithIloveyou · 29/08/2023 22:40

I first got covid ( bad) before vaccinations when it 1st came to UK.. l uses to love fruit..but melon..pineapple tasted like pure salt and still do.
Just had covid for 4th time ..add apples and peaches to that list.. pure salt.
I keep trying them
. I can't have sweet n sour Chinese because of the pineapple.
No Apple pie or crumble.
I'm hoping one day l will beable to have them again.

Middleagedmeangirls · 29/08/2023 22:46

Anything caffeinated. Salt. Oaky chardonnay. Baked beans. instant coffee. Full fat milk. White bread.

justasking111 · 30/08/2023 00:02

I remember my OH getting fed up with my sudden dietary quirks. Saying that I was exaggerating. Nowadays there's lots he can't eatw😂

Went out to lunch with friends last week. She said after weeks of acid reflux she went on the fodmap diet for seven weeks also only drinking water. Her reflux went away. She's reintroduce foods gradually and yes it's the same ones as most of us. She lost 11 lbs on the diet as a bonus though

Incognitofits · 30/08/2023 19:30

Cheese, caffeine, chocolate (ibs) cucumber, pepper, aubergine (covid made them taste gross)
