Wtf is this pain

Sorry posting for attention, not sure whether to be worried or not

last night I had the most debilitating pain, it was definitely In the reproductive area rather than a gastro style pain. It felt a cross between intense period pain and contractions except it wasn’t in the usual wave of contraindications. I was floored. After the intense pain started to subside I would literally feel a throbbing. I expected to see a gush of blood it was that painful, but nothing.
If I was pregnant I’d have gone straight to miscarriage. Intense pain lasted for about 20 mins and then faded

i ovulated 3/4 days ago not ttc but we use natural family planning never had anything like this before.

Log it. There are many things it could be. Make sure you’re up to date with smears.

KajsaKavat · 28/08/2023 21:47

Could it be endometriosis? A woman I knew had this and she explained her pain like contractions and she had to be rushed to hospital. Lots of blood too and a king time off work. I’d get it checked.

UhHum · 28/08/2023 21:47

Gosh, probably around 7-10 days. It was IVF so I think I'm pretty sure it was later rather than sooner after ovulation. The pain could be anything, that was just my experience. I also know people who didn't even know they were pregnant for months as they had no pain. Everyone is individual and different. If it's a one off I wouldn't worry about it. If it happens often then possibly see your GP x

Ugh this happened to me when one of my eggs burst. The doctor said “congratulations, you’ve just lived through one of the most painful things a person can experience” and likened it to being shot with a gun.

if it’s that strong, it could be something like that. But I am no doctor, and it’s best to get it checked out!

Sorry what????

BlackberryCrumbs · 28/08/2023 21:57

I had exactly this a couple of years ago op. No lead up, just rapid onset horrific pain, low down and central, that had me on my knees within 10 minutes.

It was every bit as intense as labour pain and I honestly thought something drastic had happened and was also expecting a rush of blood (but nothing).

Dh rushed me to A&E and they saw me pretty quickly (I think they thought I was giving birth 😂). Once pregnancy was ruled out they sent me for a CAT scan and I had a 6cm dermoid cyst off one ovary that they suspected had twisted. Within a few minutes of the scan (about 3 hours since the pain started) it went as quick as it had started which they deemed as the twisting of the cyst self resolving. They sent me home and referred me to Gynae.

I'm still under Gynae but they won't remove it unless it gets a lot bigger...and no other episodes since.

I had intense pain one Saturday morning. Thought I was gonna end up in hospital. Got a very hot water bottle and managed to fall asleep. Woke up an hour later absolutely fine. Had it not been my son's birthday weekend I probably would have gone to a&e.

Few weeks later I had an MRI for unrelated reasons and they discovered several ovarian cyst and an area that looked like remnants from one bursting. Worst pain I have ever felt.

I don’t think it’s endo, this is the only time it’s ever happened and I’ve got no other symptoms of it, so whilst it could be possible I think it’s unlikely

See that’s more inline with the dates I’d have thought for implantation, not 3 days dpo

I get this sometimes, ovulation pain. Could you have ovulate a bit pterodactyl than thought?

Oh the pterodactyl bit made me chuckle!

i had a positive opk on weds, and negative Thursday afternoon followed by temp spike, so I’m pretty sure I ovulated Thursday. I’ve had the ovulation twinges before but this was much lower down, definitely uterus

Gallbladder? Pain Under right rib and a squeezing pain that makes me feel hot and sweaty?

have you had intercourse recently? It’s more than possible implantation occurred today if you ovulated Thursday.

I think that’s much too high! I’ve heard that’s agonising though, so you have my sympathies xx

Depends how accurate. But also consider changes in hormones following conception can cause pain and cramping.

Fact is this. If you’ve had sex recently it’s possible.

Due to natural family planning I’m more ‘on it’ than most would be ovulation wise, opk, CM and BBT so I’m pretty confident when I ovulated.

we had sex tues, withdrawal, so it’s possible we conceived, not sure how likely but not sure if that would be the pain?

stayingright · 28/08/2023 23:48

Your description of the pain sounds exactly the same as the two episodes I had when passing kidney stones

Pimpmyfeet · 29/08/2023 00:20

It sounds very similar to everyone’s experience of cysts but do you think it might have been your bladder area? Kidney stones can be very painful but I would have thought you’d feel them on the way down

cutegorilla · 29/08/2023 00:31

Could it be an ectopic pregnancy?

Thelnebriati · 29/08/2023 00:34

Could that be a kidney stone passing through your urethra?

milkydress · 29/08/2023 00:43

Sounds like an ovarian cyst bursting! I think you need to get checked rather than discuss on mumsnet

nonamesavailable123 · 29/08/2023 01:10

Sounds exactly like the pain I had when I had an ovarian cyst and in the same place. I was in agony. It's the only time I have ever considered calling an smbulance

ohsuzannah · 29/08/2023 01:11

Ovarian cysts can be very painful. I fainted in the doctors once!

That may well be, but I’d probably want someone to have a quick look. You’d be hard pushed to get a referral for a colposcopy or ultrasound for a one-off pain however, so log it.

Did it hurt through to your lower back? And you’ve had no abnormal bleeding?

I would say it’s possible yes.
