I can only imagine the people saying they'd call the police on OP imagine the convo going like this"

'Hello police officer, I'd like to report a crime'
'Of course, what's the crime?'
'While I was away, cat broke into my new house and was unable to get out. Its owner couldn't get in touch with us, so phoned our builders who opened the door. The cat peed on my rug. And there were crab sticks on the floor.'
'You did the right thing in calling. We'll get a team of officers over immediately. You can fucking bet the perp won't be seeing the light of day again. And it'll be the electric chair for Mr Whiskers.'

😁

😩 I’m really not trying to be. How should I word the note do you think? Otherwise when they arrive they’re going to find my crabsticks in their bedroom and be really confused?

I’m actually just wanting to move at this point. I’m on Rightmove as we speak 😫 I’m so mortified with the way I had to belly flop over the garden fence in full view of my neighbours. None of my neighbours helped either.

The "do cats like crabsticks" tab 😂😂

Glad it's all sorted OP!

Don't be daft.

I was burgled 3 times (in 3 properties) when I lived in London. Once was overnight while I sleeping, which was horrendous. There is NO comparison to a bloody cat getting into the house!

You are clearly deliberately misunderstanding.

I am talking about the OP ignoring the polce and entering the house and wandering around.

Whiskeypowers · 28/08/2023 18:19

Some really uptight prissy cat hating curtain twitching fuckers on this thread.

MumGMT · 28/08/2023 18:19

Canthave2manycats · 28/08/2023 18:01

How the actual fuck is she meant to "control" a cat??? Unless it's an indoor cat, and this beauty clearly isn't?

I wouldn't be livid at all. I'd understand.

The same way we control dogs. We keep them indoors even if they want to be outdoor dogs 🤔

I'm not saying that people have to do it, I just find the question so disingenuous 😂I even remember this during the early stages of the pandemic when everyone was being extra cautious and trying their best, and there was worry about covid possibly being spread by pets and people asking how it would be possible to keep a cat indoors 😂eh close the doors, windows and block the cat flat if you have one.

Have you thought of using crabsticks?

Lemon23 · 28/08/2023 18:23

I'm so happy you and your beautiful cat are reunited. As a fellow slave to a pet, I know you must've been distraught.

( I did laugh though reading some of your updates, I'm relieved that I'm not the only person that ends up in embarrassing situations like this!😅 You're not alone!)

Posters who are critical of OP automatically being labelled cat haters is ridiculous. It is possible to like cats but also not want your new home broken into or trashed by someone else’s pet

ifIwerenotanandroid · 28/08/2023 18:27

Also, I finally remembered this, which I believe was answered with, "I thought they were big."😂Classic episode.

🤣🤣🤣

Totally! Some ridiculous responses on here, hopefully the owners will be understanding.

And you're ignoring the fact the builder let OP inside. She didn't break in. And he obviously didn't have any qualms about unlocking the door.

It hardly sounds like the OP had good old nosy around the place whilst she was inside, otherwise she might have spotted and retrieved the buffet!

Edited to add 'inside'

ARealFake · 28/08/2023 18:28

@adriftabroad she was let into the house by a responsible key holder, who probably called the owners to check it was ok prior to letting her in! FFS!

Crossstich · 28/08/2023 18:28

DeanElderberry · 28/08/2023 15:52

There is no evidence that the cat broke this catflap - he certainly wasn't able to break OUT of it. The entrance to the access tunnel should have been blocked from the outside.

When OP mentioned the damage the cat had done it included the broken cat flap so I think its fair to assume the cat did break it, especially as she said he has broken them before

Saverage · 28/08/2023 18:31

Well done OP I'm glad your cat is safely home.

Ignore the extremely odd posts you are getting.

Zonder · 28/08/2023 18:31

All I can say is if I was the owner I'd rather have to clean up some cat pee and crab sticks than a dead cat.

So glad you are sorted OP.

@Catsos I'm afraid after reading all what you have done, some on MN might find it quite and funny.

But to be completely honest even as a cat owner, If it was my home you have done this too. The first thing I would be doing tomorrow is taking photos and going straight to the police and my solicitor.

You sound horrendous, trespass, damage and putting stuff in the house and not controlling your pet, I would be livid.

All the people thinking its funny i doubt honestly they would if was their new home.

As for the crab sticks and ham, I have no words!

Edited

Yeah, damn right you would!

KnackeredBack · 28/08/2023 18:36

I would honestly send them links to the 2 threads - it's your evidence of only wanting the best for your cat and trying your hardest to not damage their house! Additionally, they really should have made sure that if they have a microchip cat flap (I'm assuming it is), they need to leave it on 'open' rather than 'catching for the vet' mode!

OMG she fucking did.

She thinks it will be ok to do again.
