He is so beautiful! I knew a mismatched-eyes white cat long long ago.

🥹🥹MAJOR BREAKTHROUGH 🥹🥹

The builders (their number was on the renovation sign outside) have finally answered their phone after 48 hours of me calling and texting, an extremely kind Irish man who has found the whole thing hilarious. He said he will be come over to liberate my cat 😭😭😭😭

I’m soooooo bloody happy. THANK YOU SO SO SO MUCH FOR ALL OF THE KIND AND SYMPATHETIC REPLIES 💗💗💗 I’ve been reading them all and it’s really helped me feel less alone.

To those trolling me, I really hope you never have an emergency and need help, as karma will be waiting for you 😊

Ignore the trolls OP. That’s great news. 😬

Please send us a photo of your gorgeous cat (I love cats) when he has been liberated.

MavisMcMinty · 28/08/2023 14:48

Oh wow, his different-coloured eyes are Fab. U. Lous!

You know he’ll be straight back in there after his Dreamies reward, I hope?

Thank you 🤗 I hope not, i’ve blocked the entrance to the catflap with their bird bath 😄

Sorry cross posted. Hope he’s learned his lesson and doesn’t try getting in those other cat flaps again.

I mean, I hope you know that, not I hope he’s straight back in there after his Dreamies.

Cats don’t learn lessons, it’s why they’re given nine lives.

btw, apologise to your neighbours, but point out that leaving an open cat flap in an empty house was inviting invasion - it could have been a fox and no-one would have offered them help with the clean up. This was partly their fault. At least they had some local contact and a key holder (the builder) so their insurance should be okay.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 28/08/2023 14:51

he had a wee on a white rubbish bag which was on the floor

Ah bless his heart , he tried his best to be tidy

<notified the 70 cats who throw up frothy grass spit on the flippin' carpet, that things can be done different>

mummymayhem18 · 28/08/2023 14:52

Excellent news OP. I bet you're so relieved. Horrible situation. 😻

To break into my new neighbours house *THREAD 2*
Beeinalily · 28/08/2023 14:53

Beautiful boy, and as PPs have said - those eyes! ❤

Catsos · 28/08/2023 14:44

My boy has been liberated 🙌 thanks to the kind builder.

He’s had a good drink/meal and is now relaxing in MY garden :)

Unfortunately he has done some damage inside the house…lots of muddy paw marks on the walls were he was scratching to get out, broken catflap and unfortunately he had a wee on a white rubbish bag which was on the floor. The white bag captured some of the wee but some has gone onto the wooden floors and the rug beside it. It’s a huge rug (about 2 x 3 meters) and I’m guessing expensive :/ Apparently the new owners are coming tomorrow - I’ll offer to have it cleaned, hopefully that will be enough as I don’t have much money right now. 😩

okay…I am not gonna lie. I have been thinking that this cat is a wanker (apologies to all cat lovers) but this picture has melted my hardened heart. What a beautiful cat. So pleased he has been rescued. I really hope the neighbours will be ok and accept your offer.

Awww, very similar. Is yours a Turkish Angora too? 😍

Cats can be wankers AND be lovable, that’s their special talent.

Willmafrockfit · 28/08/2023 14:54

so happy to get back and see a resolution
what a relief @Catsos

TamzinGrey · 28/08/2023 14:56

So glad that you've got him out at last OP.
What a handsome boy. He looks like a Turkish Van Cat. Beautiful breed who love swimming apparently.

I agree. This clearly wasn’t entirely your fault, OP.

an open cat flap obviously comes with the risk of critters (foxes, cats, wildlife) getting in.

a one way cat flap that traps the critter inside the house (!) is simply idiotic.

And they are very lucky that you saw your cat and tried everything to get him out.

having to deal with a neighbour’s dead pet due to their faulty cat flap wouldn’t have been a pleasant experience for them either…

It's going to be an expensive repair unfortunately, possibly new floor boards and a replacement rug. Also factor in new paint work as well. However, I'm sure there's many a poster on here who will help towards the payment.

Well I suppose he might be.
We got him from Cats Protection.
DH and I were astonished by how similar your cat is to ours.
😈

Yujismum · 28/08/2023 14:58

Wonderful news OP! Glad he’s free now. You might be in need of a nap?
Was thinking I bet there’s a mumsnet on ‘how to get cat wee off carpets’.

Eh, the catflap was chip activated, the absent neighbours are not at fault here.

OP delighted that moggie is safe and well but please take this as a sign to take more care with him in the future. Please tell me you have removed the crab sticks too, I'm dry retching just thinking about it.

TequilaNights · 28/08/2023 14:59

Glad he is finally out of the house, you both must be so relieved.

Out of curiosity, is he deaf?

White cats with heterochromia can be deaf due to the W gene (white) and more likely to be so, if 1 or more blue eye is present.
I learnt about this when I dropped a plate next to my white cat with blue and green eyes and he didn't even flinch, I've also had a white cat that hear just fine with green eyes.

Could be why he couldn't hear you calling from the open window.

Hope he has learnt his lesson, but I doubt he will have, the age old saying.. Curiosity... The cat.

Given his propensity for spreading himself equally around the neighbourhood, is it possible they might just be the same cat???

Ponderingwindow · 28/08/2023 15:01

Why on earth is your cat in your garden? He is just going to go cause more havoc. Get the cat inside where he belongs.

FatherJackHackettsUnderpantsHamper · 28/08/2023 15:02

Ignore the thread wankers

I realise I'm shouting into the wind here, but there does seem to be a great deal of arrogant entitlement amongst some cat owners, just as much as with the cats themselves.

Not a single person has wished the cat - or any cat - any harm whatsoever; and this was posted in AIBU and not The Litter Tray, you know?

It's also fascinating how many accusations there have been on this thread about alleged trolling from people who want a cat but reject any responsibility whatsoever as a pet owner. If there were any truth in all these accusations, this thread would be like a Swiss cheese, where all of these trolls have been duly reported by conscientious MNers and their posts deleted.
