Whooooooo! We need another pic when he’s liberated. What a cutie. I am so relieved for you, I’ve been checking back constantly.

🥹🥹MAJOR BREAKTHROUGH 🥹🥹

The builders (their number was on the renovation sign outside) have finally answered their phone after 48 hours of me calling and texting, an extremely kind Irish man who has found the whole thing hilarious. He said he will be come over to liberate my cat 😭😭😭😭

I’m soooooo bloody happy. THANK YOU SO SO SO MUCH FOR ALL OF THE KIND AND SYMPATHETIC REPLIES 💗💗💗 I’ve been reading them all and it’s really helped me feel less alone.

To those trolling me, I really hope you never have an emergency and need help, as karma will be waiting for you 😊

Don't forget to also liberate the crab sticks!

So pleased for you though @Catsos

😄

rosao · 28/08/2023 11:58

@placemats op mentioned a sign with the builder a number on in a previous post and explained there was no answer. Did you not read it as you were more intent on sticking the boot in?

I do hope that helpful builder will also liberate crab sticks. Maybe he'll let you in to remove any offerings. Looking forward to seeing a pic of happy released cat.

Yes, and the cat shit.

Go prepared OP

Indoor cats are the responsible choice

I disagree. But then you probably don’t agree with me that dogs should be kept inside, bloody nuisances.

Glad your cat is going to be rescued @Catsos!!

snowflakeinastorm · 28/08/2023 11:59

@Catsos
Great result, your cat will be so relieved to be in his own home again.

gogomoto · 28/08/2023 11:59

So pleased! For future reference the fire brigade are usually your best bet for help as they have cutting equipment. Around my way they mostly seem to be attending smoke alarms which are false alarms (lots of flats in the cladding scandal) but they rescue cats, hamsters etc with surprising regularity Smile

CitizenofGotham · 28/08/2023 12:00

Great news OP! I would love to see the builders' reactions to the crab sticks 😄

I've had a few equally sitcom-worthy situations, they always make great stories!

Yes I thought that too.

HurricaneZeldaAndToto · 28/08/2023 12:00

Phew!!! And GET THE CRAB STICKS BACK!!

Can you also use an air freshener?

EggOverEasy · 28/08/2023 12:00

Yay! I'm so glad that you've found a solution that didn't involve jail time! 😉🤭

Hope your cat didn't leave too many presents inside the house!

I was going to say the same thing. Why don't people RTWT if they want to comment?

Redwineislife · 28/08/2023 12:01

Yay, I am so so happy for you @Catsos I have been checking in to hear the happy outcome.

Please post a picture of your cheeky cat once it’s home 😅

anyolddinosaur · 28/08/2023 12:02

Kind builder might prefer a financial reward - £10 maybe if he lets your remove the crab sticks and put something to block the entrance to the cat flap so the cat cant get back in.

The problem with trying to poke ham through a vent is that it would probably get stuck in the vent and gradually decompose there.

Seeline · 28/08/2023 12:02

Great news OP!

But please @Catsos please, get the cat flap sealed up until the new owners move in!!!

CaroleSinger · 28/08/2023 12:02

placemats · 28/08/2023 11:56

So you had the numbers of the builders and were ringing them continuously - that's a new one. They are coming to rescue the cat.

Meanwhile you have posted pictures, been mean about your very nosy neighbours. Climbed over a fence. Said you would smash through the window.

Meanwhile people are genuinely worried about your cat because they have been in a similar situation.

I'm also a very kind Irish person by the way.

So pleased your cat is now safe. Can't understand why it's taken two threads to do this, and stress to those watching especially as you never told us in the first place you had the numbers of the builders.

To those trolling me, I really hope you never have an emergency and need help, as karma will be waiting for you 😊

How kind.

She actually said quite early on that there was a sign for renovations outside but nobody was answering.

CouldNotResist · 28/08/2023 12:04

Glad you’re going to get your cat back soon. I guess you’ll have to be prepared to bung some money to the owners in case your cats toileted on carpets/walls - hopefully if they have, they’ve done it in one contained area that can be cleaned up easily. Least of your worries I know - you’ll just be glad to get your cat home 😊Can’t wait to see the pics!

A tenner isn't much for coming out on a bank holiday surely!

I could be the kind Irish man's wife for all you know.

How am I sticking the boot in? My cat went missing. I suggested several times to remove the cat flap - least possible damage and distress to getting your cat out. Yet the OP ALARMINGLY was going to put the bird bath through the window.

It's incredibly distressing when your cat goes missing. Two weeks of stress I and our family had.

I'm pleased the cat will finally be freed.

Now @Catsos has to prevent another similar scenario.

butteringthestairs · 28/08/2023 12:04

She didn't mention the builder's sign with contact details at all in the first thread yesterday. The first mention it got was today.

Mygosh · 28/08/2023 12:07

Great news, definitely tip the builder for his troubles! Cats really are naughty sometimes but we love them ❤️

placemats · 28/08/2023 12:07

Plus it's two threads. I read all the OPs posts. However, they never said in the update, apart from wanting to put a birdbath through the window 😧that she was continuously in contact.

This thread has really upset me.

MayThe4th · 28/08/2023 12:08

Bumblepig · 28/08/2023 11:56

What a misery guts you are! 😂

I think that when a cat is in the habit of entering people’s houses and when it’s entered the wrong one the OP is considering resorting to committing criminal damage, and people seem to think the neighbours should be totally ok with their windows having been smashed, to get it out it’s not unreasonable to tell her that if her cat is going t end up in these kinds of situations she needs to keep it in or cat proof her garden to stop it happening again.

Cats roam, I’ve owned cats myself. But anyone who owns a cat needs to realise that the ability to wander sometimes comes at a price. Cats being hit by cars, cats wandering too far from home, and in this instance, cats being shut in houses without the ability to get out.

yes it’s stressful but if you want to be a cat owner you need to accept that that means your cat may get into situations which it can’t get out of. And if you don’t want that then you need to keep it inside.

Yes the final update.

WimbyAce · 28/08/2023 12:10

Amazing! So glad you got hold of the builders. I think otherwise I would've waited til tomorrow and then if no joy broken in.
