Egg trend

AIBU to think that if you have taken part in this disgusting trend (of breaking an egg on your child's head for social media 'likes') then you are an utter bell?

Sorry if this has been discussed already, couldn't find it.

YANBU.

The children haven't consented and it's just generally a vile thing to do for laughs.

Chopnchange · 27/08/2023 23:53

Yanbu. Its horrible

moomoosaka · 27/08/2023 23:54

Is it a trend?

Gosh.

People are weird.

MK19590 · 27/08/2023 23:55

Just another of the many reasons that I refuse to use social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram and Thick Tok

Findyourneutralspace · 27/08/2023 23:55

Never heard of this - what is it?

Dinojump · 27/08/2023 23:57

The kids think they are baking with their parents. The adult then cracks the egg on the child's head and laughs when they cry.

It's awful.

no different than the throw a cheese slice on the child face that was going about

or the lock then in a room and a scary ghost filer would appear

most kids were proper terrified

Starlightstarbright2 · 28/08/2023 00:13

I hated the throw the cheese too .

its fucking testy thing too do .

Findyourneutralspace · 28/08/2023 00:19

It sounds really mean. I’m not averse to a practical joke with my kids but to publish it for likes and follows if they are upset crosses a line for me.

TGGreen · 28/08/2023 00:22

You need to take a serious look at yourself if you're contemplating doing this. Everyone is thinking you're a dick.

10HailMarys · 28/08/2023 00:24

I’m glad to say I haven’t seen this on social media, and I hope I never do, but sadly it doesn’t surprise me that this is a thing. Anything that involves ‘pranking’ or humiliating or scaring anyone for likes and clicks is vile, but even more so when it’s a child. Absolutely inexcusable. Making a child cry and then laughing about it is absolutely disgusting.

Dinojump · 28/08/2023 00:29

It looks bloody painful for a start!

OnTheRunWithMannyMontana · 28/08/2023 00:30

I saw this on breakfast news on Friday. It's bloody horrible! Can't understand how anyone would find it funny.

RavingStyle · 28/08/2023 00:31

Anyone who does this is a contemptible, abusive twat.

resipsa · 28/08/2023 00:35

Of course, it's awful and no one reasonable would do it but I am on these platforms and haven't seen any video which shows it so either my algorithm is really well fixed to golden retrievers or it's not happening as often as we fear. Hope it's the latter.

BaaCode · 28/08/2023 00:38

Why on earth would anyone be so horrible to their children?
Surely a parent's instinct is to comfort an upset child, not be the cause of it!
They were probably the school bullies too.

Tothemoonandbackx · 28/08/2023 00:42

I've seen it, and it's not remotely funny. For a parent to literally hit their child in the face and then laugh is utterly deplorable and anyone that finds this kind of shit funny needs to get their head checked.

Sadly there are hundreds of these videos popping up every day.

I've seen the cheese slice one & cannot think for one second why a parent would choose to publicly humiliate & upset their child like that. It's deplorable!

I'm sorry.. they throw a cheese slice at their child's face and film it?

This is ridiculous. Like some bizarre black mirror episode

Can they be reported

Were they laughing along or saying wtf is wrong with you? If the news was laughing along I'd report it to offcom

AtomicBlondeRose · 28/08/2023 06:36

I agree, that’s not even funny. Everyone knows the funny thing is to pretend to break the egg then run your fingers over their scalp to freak them out! (Usually followed by “do it again!”)

Poppins2016 · 28/08/2023 06:38

Down the line, I bet some of these parents will wonder why their children turn out to be bullies... (they're doing the opposite of modelling the correct behaviour).

Not sure!
