Egg trend

AIBU to think that if you have taken part in this disgusting trend (of breaking an egg on your child's head for social media 'likes') then you are an utter bell?

Sorry if this has been discussed already, couldn't find it.

I never saw the cheese thing but that sounds horrible too. I can only assume it went out of fashion after Karanbir Cheema died. While obviously an exceptionally rare occurrence, I'd imagine it took the whole "fun" out of it all.

I have heard of but not seen the egg thing. No idea how any parent could enjoy making their kid cry and filming it for social media clout. Honestly I'm not a big fan of "pranks" anyway but especially not with children. I think it really fosters a sense of distrust and betrayal.

It bloody hurts, it is assault and totally inappropriate.

I’m usually a bit on the relaxed side of parenting and I do side eye some things about ‘safety’ ie not letting kids climb trees, strategic risk imo is ok and even I am utterly appalled. This is hurting your child for lols on SM, grotesque.

I hate it.

I saw one where a man smashed the egg on his pregnant partner's forehead. The expression on his face as he did it looked venomous. Like he despised her and was using this 'prank' as a consequence free way of slapping her.

I find it shocking really how distanced people are from normal child parent relationships in order to get likes. Like the thread on exploiting your child's SEND, scaring them, etc etc it's completely ridiculous like kids are accessories.

Down the line, I bet some of these parents will wonder why their children turn out to be bullies... (they're doing the opposite of modelling the correct behaviour).

This. I know a man who likes to prank and laugh at people including his own kids. No prizes for guessing how the children have turned out.

My dd told me about this last week and I was appalled that this is a thing! Those poor kids. I told her, in my day, we would pretend to crack an egg on a school friends head and then use our fingers to make it feel like the white is going down their head and face.
