Anyone else constantly logging on to mumsnet any chance they get? It’s like a compulsion and in all honesty quite a toxic space so not sure why………

Same here but it’s a fairly benign addiction. I used to smoke. Gots to have some vices….

SPF50 · 27/08/2023 21:45

😂You’ve made me laugh - I know what you mean as an ex smoker myself

Yep except I have it on my phone. Need to delete but I'm on the pregnancy boards so don't want too. Just need better self control

Yellowlegobrick · 27/08/2023 21:47

Welcome to the club

Ive recently got a phone app tp block it and other addictive websites mon- fri, which can help

Hawkins0090 · 27/08/2023 21:49

Yep, anyone that reads my internet logs, majority is , mumsnet, mumsnet, Wikipedia, ebay, then mumsnet etc

Hawkins0090 · 27/08/2023 21:49

And YouTube for music and documentaries

Mumsanetta · 27/08/2023 21:50

@Yellowlegobrick what’s this app blocker you speak of?

YukoandHiro · 27/08/2023 21:50

Yep, seriously bad habit. I'm going to have the delete it from my phone soon.

Hawkins0090 · 27/08/2023 21:51

I'm hawkins, and I'm a mumsnet addict.

Yep, seriously bad habit. I'm going to have the delete it from my phone soon.

I lasted a couple of days at most, tried cold turkey, well the cravings got the better of me.

Toddlerteaplease · 27/08/2023 21:52

Yep!

Crikeyalmighty · 27/08/2023 21:52

I'm a self confessed addict

strawberryjeans · 27/08/2023 21:57

Yeah it’s really bad, what’s worse is that I have no excuse and feel worse for it as we don’t even have kids yet and aren’t TTC for another couple months! I also echo that it’s not good for me, I think I have a shorter fuse after spending too much time on here & an overload of other people’s opinions can’t be good for your brain.

Springbaby2023 · 27/08/2023 22:16

Yes! I tried to have a social media break including mumsnet while on holiday. Managed to stay off them all apart from MN…

Dramatic · 27/08/2023 22:38

You know why I'm really annoyed about my new found Mumsnet addiction? The fact that it's directly because of the FB adverts bringing me here a few times 😫

Thighdentitycrisis · 27/08/2023 23:03

How do I stop? I don’t have the app just open it on browser on my phone

ex smoker here too but this is seriously affecting my mood and motivation

Dockdive · 27/08/2023 23:10

Yup and I don't even care 😅

Don't drink or smoke so I'm allowed one bad habit! And anyway, I've learned all sorts since being on here so it's not even a bad habit really as it has benefits!

SPF50 · 27/08/2023 23:14

Glad it’s not just me - I might have to go cold turkey. I’m sure this site has been infiltrated by trolls. My work colleague mentioned that his friend makes horrible comments on news paper (daily Mail) site to rile up women. Stuff like X woman is so flabby or ugly just to get arguments going. MN not very pleasant at the moment.

I'd be interested to know how much money people have spent by talking about products with other users . I see it all the time on here (have done it once myself) . A whole thread talking about a particular product , where people convince themselves they need this item . Do any posters spend less money when they stay off here ?

Mothew · 27/08/2023 23:21

Hello, I'm Mothew and I've been a Mumsnet addict for 15 years, member for 14. I'm beyond help and don't even want to give it up. Welcome to the club 👈👉☝👇<secret handshake>.

Another one here wondering what this app is. Sounds very helpful.

HeatherMoores · 27/08/2023 23:29

I nearly posted something like this earlier.
It’s my go to activity at the moment.
I think it’s a combination of things…

Some very sensible, wise people with good advice.
Always learn something new about different things.
Interesting or controversial topics.
Nosey, village gossip type stuff about other people’s lives.
Sort of community.
Sometimes the the nastiness is awful yet hard to look away from. It’s like waiting for the Craig Revel Horwood/ Jason Gardiner/ Nina Myskow/ Anne Robinson bit.

Here I am drinking and smoking while being on mumsnet.

I don't care either 🤪

CoopAndWheels · 27/08/2023 23:35

I haven’t watched soaps for years, MN is my entertainment.
I used to go to bed and go to sleep. Now I turn the light off but keep scrolling on MN until far too late, even when I have to get up at 5:30! Why do I do it? I am just totally addicted.

Findyourneutralspace · 27/08/2023 23:35

Checking into MN Anonymous. I shudder to think of all the stuff I’ve avoided by logging on here over the years.
