Anyone else constantly logging on to mumsnet any chance they get? It’s like a compulsion and in all honesty quite a toxic space so not sure why………

Me too. Sometimes I think I’ll put my phone down and pick up a book….

I’m also rather lonely so find it good company - even if I don’t always comment!

That's the thing , because there's many topics it can take the edge off the loneliness at times.

Glad it’s not just me - I might have to go cold turkey. I’m sure this site has been infiltrated by trolls. My work colleague mentioned that his friend makes horrible comments on news paper (daily Mail) site to rile up women. Stuff like X woman is so flabby or ugly just to get arguments going. MN not very pleasant at the moment.

Mumsnet has always had it's various vipers over the years.

Arthriticmiddlefinger · 28/08/2023 00:33

Just to say… samesies
baby is going to wake me up around 6 and here I am anyways

TrickorTreacle · 28/08/2023 04:34

I didn't even know an app existed for Mumsnet. It's a forum, so I log into it using a web browser.

Hello, I'm Mothew and I've been a Mumsnet addict for 15 years, member for 14. I'm beyond help and don't even want to give it up. Welcome to the club 👈👉☝👇<secret handshake>.

Mothew😂😂😂

Here I am drinking and smoking while being on mumsnet.

I don't care either 🤪

Me, too, thrice guilty. I was off Mumsnet for years, then came back to read a few interesting-looking threads and NOW I CAN'T STOP!!!

I should be more worried than I am,

AliceOlive · 28/08/2023 04:48

Sorry @Mothew Momentary lapse of all reason.

I look first thing in the morning, before I get up, then throughout the day and evening. Really bad but I barely watch TV. Should be reading more books though.

OneFrenchEgg · 28/08/2023 05:13

I have a theory that a lot of us have social or physical conditions meaning we don't socialise or have a lot of friends etc to chat to. I'm ND and forums have made it easier to engage with people than the school gates or work etc.

YearoftheRabbit23 · 28/08/2023 05:21

I got hooked a few months back, was on TTC boards but also always reading pretty much all the Active threads. Then had a miscarriage and decided I was finding mumsnet too toxic (not the TTC threads but everything else) so went cold turkey. Lasted about 3 months, now TTC again so had a look at the conception boards, but once again hooked on the rest of the site. I honestly spend hours on it every day, it's awful. Circumvented the website blocker by using a different browser. Must find will power to go cold turkey again!

YearoftheRabbit23 · 28/08/2023 05:23

@234vhh there are lots of such apps, search the google play store for website blockers or productivity aids. I use one called StayFocused where you can time limit your time on sites of your choosing. Except I've circumvented it by logging into Mumsnet on a different browser!

YearoftheRabbit23 · 28/08/2023 05:24

I think I will try to leave cold turkey again once I find out how the lady rescues her cat trapped in the neighbour's house!

RantyAnty · 28/08/2023 05:26

Lol pretty much a little bit each day for over a decade.
This is my social fun.

OMG is it bad that I instantly know the thread your talking about 🤣🤣🤣

CrackersCheeseAndWinePlease · 28/08/2023 06:06

I'm a self confessed MN addict. I find it quite useful and like a pp says I've learned a lot from it.
@YearoftheRabbit23 I was sooo invested in that thread, the only reason I'm on here now is to see if she rescued the cat 🤣

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 28/08/2023 07:55

My family think I'm obsessed with MN (and they may be right).
It is a procrastinators dream for me and I spend FAR too long browsing here.
And of course I'm also following the 'house breaking to rescue the cat' thread 😹.

AliceOlive · 28/08/2023 04:48

Sorry @Mothew Momentary lapse of all reason.

Yes @AliceOlive that video was the inspiration for my latest MN name Grin

IClaudine · 28/08/2023 08:56

Yes, I spend too much time here. I think you are right OP about the growing number of bots and trolls.

Themosswidow · 28/08/2023 09:01

You’ve inspired me to get off and get on with my day!
