Dh - lack of job interviews- age or season??

Dh has been looking ( well sort of looking ) since June was sacked in April. He's 58 and works in IT. He wants remote senior level jobs, which he's qualified for but the few interviews he's done have been a no.
Is it his age or just because its summer?
He's finally agreed to sign on.
But aibu to think this is his sneaky way of trying to retire?

Just read he cashed in his pension. Ok well it sounds like you need to sort your own finances any way as he is doing his own thing.

By cash in a Pension what do you mean? I'm claiming one of my pensions now so my DH can do a less stressful job. It makes up the shortfall.

well with no private pension he needs to be working til at the very least state pension age which will probably be 68 by the time he gets there. So 10 years.
