To think my friend is treating me like her maid

For context, this is a friend who I have known for years, haven't seen since before COVID. We booked and are on a 7 day all in beach holiday in the Med.

Meals are buffet service, tea service and cakes etc at certain times from a pool bar and a bar where you can go and get alcoholic drinks etc. At meal times waiters will bring you water for the table and you go to bar for anything else. Bar a few mins walk.

At every single meal we have had since arriving, she tries to send me to the bar to get her a drink, if I am going anyway absolutely fine, otherwise get your own!

She also keeps taking food from my plate to try it, with fingers , and then says can you go and get me some of that.

When I get desert, she gives me a list and asks me to bring back plates of various things.

Tea, she doesn't want to go to bar to get cakes, in case she misses some sun so again even though I don't want anything asks me to go.

I know its petty, and I'm usually easy going but after 3 days I have just said you go, you have legs too, and please stop taking food from my plate.

She is now very offended and huffing and puffing!

Yes, this would have been a better response, particularly as it was over messages so there was time to think about it.

Oh gosh! That's awful. I was only playing devil's advocate incase she had an anxiety problem like mine. Oh dear dad she post an update saying she had to move? I must of missed it. My apologises x

There may be a late room fee if you're there beyond checkout and I would imagine it is OPs card that is registered.

No OP is doing the right thing. Get home with minimum drama, and chalk these latest CF asks as a sign that she did the right thing moving hotel.

Sje doesn’t sound very intelligent at all… who needs telling more than once not to touch your food… who needs telling constantly to get their own food! Then even after you’ve moved hotels STILL texts to ask info off you that she could easily find out for herself!

Anything wrong even though you’ve moved hotels. Will probably complain about the poor waitress service in the self serve restaurant or about how long she had to queue…. This is where you need to say that this is why you’d have liked to have the queueing duties and taken it in turns to queue for food/drinks etc and that it upset you to be treated like her scivvy… ofcourse she still might not understand the concept of not being everyone else’s priority so you might waste your breath! I would part ways with a polite ‘catch up soon’ then block her as soon as you get in the taxi!

Thanks all, I am 2 hours ahead here, so checked out a few hours ago but allowed to keep wristband till I get picked up for transfer.

Had lunch, haven't heard anything from her today, but 3pm approx UK time get picked up to go to airport which is 2 hours approx.

I'm not going to say anything until I am home, and even then, I might just ignore and leave it, last few days have been very nice, lots of friendly couples and family groups in the new hotel, and weather has been early 30's.

See her in a few hours for pick up, but after her messages yesterday I don't think it will be that awkward

I really hope your flight gets out on time. Otherwise you might have an extra few hours of fending off requests at the airport

You might end up being with her for a while at the airport/on the plane - there are some problems with air traffic control in the UK today. Make sure your headphones are charged and you have a big book 😉

If you get stuck getting to the UK, see if you can get a flight to Dublin or anywhere in Ireland and then there is always the option of getting a ferry to the UK (while these issues are happening with the air traffic control system in the UK).

If it's friendly OP she'll rope you into queuing for her.

And grabbing water, and a snack, and some duty free, and holding her passport .....

If during your long wait she asks you to pop to the coffee shop and fetch her something, just shake your head slowly and sadly, and move wordlessly to the other side of the airport.

I thought moving hotels was a drastic solution but now people are literally suggesting moving COUNTRY temporarily as a way of minimising conflict. This is the thread that keeps on giving 😂

I'm just after seeing on social media that all BA inbound and outbound European and domestic flights have been cancelled until 6pm.
