I'm not sure where else to put this... but interested to see if anyone else is aware of the code talk language between men in the office around women?
Would love to hear any phrases that you can shed some light on...

I'll start "wawawiwa" = code cat call for a drop dead gorgeous woman.

I've heard this being spoken in may offices I've worked in over the years. Always used mostly by men to men when they are highlighting a woman they find attractive without directly saying it.

Never heard of such language after a lifetime of working in offices!

BigPussyEnergy · 22/08/2023 20:01

That’s just from Borat, not specifically by men about women.

HakunaMatiłda · 22/08/2023 20:02

Errrrr right….

hoomallow · 22/08/2023 20:03

What

Caprisunny · 22/08/2023 20:05

Where do you work?

User3253625 · 22/08/2023 20:06

Wawawiwa is a quote from Borat. Anyone who was a teen when the movie came out will remember it. It's probably a generational thing with millennials using slang and memes from their "hip years" rather than a men vs women thing.

MadNads · 22/08/2023 20:09

Great success

Winniethewitchy · 22/08/2023 20:11

Check out the urban dictionary.

I guess I've never worked anywhere with gorgeous women then, or maybe I've never worked with men who watch Borat.

Agree

So no one has ever heard of 'hot girl alerts'?

No. I have never come across this in over 30 years in offices.

BoobyDazzler · 23/08/2023 04:26

No. But I don't work with teenagers. Appreciate it might be different if I did.

Hooplahooping · 23/08/2023 04:41

I am also an extremely interested to know where you work…?

Catsmere · 23/08/2023 04:42

I never worked with anyone who talked in nonsensical movie code, unless you count the occasional "This is an ex-parrot!" or "Romans go home!" from Monty Python fans.

And, try as they might to resurrect it, I don't think the OP can save this from becoming an ex-thread 😉

Bwahahaha!

HappiestSleeping · 23/08/2023 07:11

I've not heard of this either. I'm a man, worked in various companies and various offices for decades and never been party to any such code.

Python definitely. Then again, most of the meetings I go to are exactly that. "This calls for immediate discussion....."

It’s not dead. It’s just resting.

OP no, I’ve never heard this. Lots of casual sexism. But not this.

MrsElsa · 23/08/2023 07:15

Sounds like bog standard misogynistic workplace harrassment to me 🤷‍♀️

ssd · 23/08/2023 07:16

So you want to know if either someone fancies you or someone is cheating on you...

TicTacNicNak · 23/08/2023 07:18

Nope. Over 30 years in a corporate office environment and never heard or aware of any "code talk" amongst the men. However the men I worked with were all grown ups and had matured past the playground mentality.

Amethyst2023 · 23/08/2023 07:19

Are they babies or cats?? 😆

WandaWonder · 23/08/2023 07:38

haven't you heard the code when a man puts a teaspoon in the sink it means they are having an affair

well no I just made it up, but no I have not heard of some made up code so people can go 'see I need to add another men alert thing'

NotMadeOfStone · 23/08/2023 07:41

Men in your office walk about going 'wawawiwa'?!

If my colleagues started doing that I'd assume they were having a stroke.
