What’s it actually like?

im a healthy weight but would like to use 2/3 kg to feel better about myself. How much weight did you lose?

i know it’s a 12 month contract which makes me feel a bit nervous, what happens if you cancel the DD in that time? Wil

They will immediately send it to debt collectors if you cancel and Richie is an absolute cunt. It's a no from me.

Malbecormerlot · 21/08/2023 19:59

I did it lost nothing. I felt there was no support and just told to hit my macros and steps. No help with meal planning etc. You can use mfp for free don't need to pay to be called fat and lazy if you don't hit 10000 steps one day.

Bolshybun · 21/08/2023 20:02

A friend did it. The protein he advised for her was was ridiculously high. She spent half her time trying to fit it in and then rather than being helpful, he was rude and no better than the slimming clubs he berates.

PomPomChatton · 21/08/2023 20:04

I think the plan works and I lost a lot of weight. But I couldn't be doing with all the drama, it was exhausting!

LampLamp · 21/08/2023 20:07

Is this the guy who shouts at women (yes usually specifically women) on TikTok about “being so fat you can’t see your fanny”.

If so 1.) most of his “facts” about weight loss are bull (especially regarding PCOS and menopause) and 2.) he’s a nasty misogynist.

Over £6.99 a month?

the fact you don’t even have basic cancellation rights worried me

What facts about weight loss? I’ve pretty much seen him say it’s calories in v out and even with hormonal imbalances it’s still pretty much that for the vast majority of people

but yeah he calls people a fathead often

I've done it. Lost the 10 lbs I'd wanted to in about 6 months (now 11 st, ideally would like to lose a bit more but am in healthy BMI territory and can't really be bothered 😂)

I found it pretty straightforward, just hit the macros, do the steps.

There are some recipes on there for ideas but really I found it was a bit of experimenting with what I liked to eat that had the fibre in I wanted to get etc.

There's a daily post on Facebook for support if you like that kind of thing. I understand that if you reach out on the app the first thing they do is check you're tracking completely and go from there.

SilkySuky · 21/08/2023 20:22

He's an awful awful man who must pay a fortune to Facebook and tiktok to boost his views. I've hit 'not interested' many times but still get bombarded by his stuff.
I live close to where he is based and he has not got a great reputation with other gym owners/ PTs or past clients.
Also, like pp said, he will send debt collection to your door , and it's very hard to cancel.

They charge a £25 fee for every month that you default.

Thelondonone · 21/08/2023 20:28

You can’t cancel. It’s essentially the full amount but spread over 12 months. Tbf to him this is very clear on sign up. I did it but was quite lazy and did better on my own. However, he’s not wrong and seems a sensible approach. I prefer fast 800 as I got results quickly which spurred me on. It’s cheap compared to other fat clubs.

YouCantBeSadHoldingACupcake · 21/08/2023 20:42

I have been considering signing up. I have lost 50lb by myself since March, but have now plateaued and hoping it might help. But the 12 month contract is putting me off, I have 20lb to go, and even with a slow weight loss that shouldn't take a year. I quite enjoy his videos on Facebook, he's a dick but a straight talking dick.

well done you! That’s amazing!

im stuck with my baby weight (my child is nearly 2) I’m just 2kg lighter than when I gave birth. 3kg to lose, but it’s not coming off! I have pcos so I’ve gone back on the metformin to see if that helps, but it’s all in my waist. But as you said the cancellation policy worries me

Steer well clear.
This is a man who had a telling off from trading standards for doing an advertisement for his fitness plan that depicted degrading sexual imagery of women with the phrase “wine dine 69”.
He also advises people to weigh themselves every single day and count the calories in any medication they take.

Fiekcjdiwldnfjri · 21/08/2023 21:24

It’s stick to your calories without trying to achieve a ridiculous deficit, eat PLENTY of protein to help fill you up and lots of fibre too. You don’t need to sign up and pay money to do that.

WafflingDreamer · 21/08/2023 21:28

I've done it before and I found it works, I lost 2 stone but I don't particularly enjoy the way he motivates people. I also hate MFP as I tend to cook from scratch and it's such a pain scanning and weighing everything and weighing it again before you eat so I dont do it any more.

My personal opinion is it has lost a lot of its appeal as its/his fanbase has grown. I did it in the early days and they used to have very active support teams who would share all sorts of tips and advice, they did lots of live videos and would answer questions and help people every day. His ex was a lovely person and I used to follow her fitness videos all the time.

The subscription is 1 year split into monthly payments. He publicly berates people trying to cancel their DD and has openly said he will take people to court.

Calories in medication? That’s outrageous and disordered? How would one even find that out?

Surely it would cost more for him to take someone who owes £50 to court? But the lack of cooling off period and no cancellation rights was a red flag for me, as was weighing myself everyday

I did it and lost 24lbs doing the below

Work out your basal metabolic rate ( lots of various websites can help) then make sure your calories are below that by using my fitness pal and logging everything (make sure you are very accurate and weigh everything)
Do 10k steps a day

Agree he is an annoying twat

EdithDickie · 21/08/2023 22:03

The daily weighing made me a bit wary as used to be bulimic and the number on the scales was a massive deal as to how I felt. However I've actually found it incredibly helpful to see daily fluctuations and that they are NOT linked to me being a massive failure unworthy of any self respect and all those other awful things poor younger me thought. Because it could be anything from time of month to did an intense workout to ate a lot of salty food to feeling a bit constipated. And the daily weighing makes that number much less of A Thing than it is when it's a weekly thing because chances are it'll be back tomorrow normal or on the way down the next day or the day after. Appreciate it's a personal thing but personally, totally good for me

Glitterybee · 21/08/2023 22:08

I cancelled and they sent debt collectors after me.

I argued & ignored and they went away. It never did show on my credit report.

Theres a tattle thread on him if you fancy a read

Dashel · 21/08/2023 22:18

If you want something nicer and without the swearing there is Get fit with Rick on YouTube.

There is no app and membership to the full website is quite expensive but there is an awful lot of free content including a supportive Facebook group and a lot of exercise videos centred on step, do this with MFP after watching his nutrition free video and you should be ok.

The exercise videos are different lengths and always to go good music, you can pick harder ones and carry weights or do 10 minute ones and work up.

I found them great for working out whilst recovering from various injuries

bunsnroses1 · 21/08/2023 22:20

I didn’t think it was worth paying for- they’re not proactive with their coaching/ support (you have to contact them) whereas I was looking for something more like a virtual PT who would check in with me.

My advice would be to use MFP for free and just follow team RH on FB to get your daily dose of misogynistic fat shaming ‘inspiration’.

Ejismyf · 21/08/2023 22:20

The guy Ritchie is an absolute prick a really nasty piece of work and I wouldn't give him a penny.
