Women's football brings out the entitled misandrists

On holiday and a table was booked by a woman. She started off complaining to the owner about the amount of places set, it turned out that she has got her numbers wrong. No apology for her rudeness.

She then told him he was to put the women's football on. He said the TV had been booked at whatever time but he could turn it on until then.
She said why what is on and he said the premier league's 1st game men's football, She let out a massive groan at the word men's football and told everyone to get up and leave!

This entitled imbecile reserved the table and tried to lose the place money as she couldn't get her way. Luckily the place is very popular so the owner didn't lose any money.

AIBU to think that all these demands that everything must stop because women are playing football are by the entitled types, who impose their views on everybody else. Personally I couldn't give a toss which sex is playing!

So it's ok for the matches to be treated differently because they are being played by women? A lot of 'football' bars in Turkey wasn't showing women's football and thankfully people have walked out, because sexism isn't ok. Hth.

This isn't a football bar and that is pathetic not showing women's football because they are women. This is an entirely different scenario.
If someone had asked for a flamenco dancing show to be on first, the owner would have honoured that.

Businesses (at least in UK) will do what brings more money in.

I was actually in a pub on Saturday lunchtime and the bar had the England game and Arsenal game on in different sides of the pub when I went in.

It was busy and nearly everyone in there watching football was watching the Arsenal game. There was a table of women near the TV showing the England Colombia game and they had zero interest in it and weren't even watching it.

People who support men's football have lifelong loyalty to their club, women's football is a relatively new thing in terms of popularity (and i'm aware of the FA's history regarding keeping it down in the past).

"It was the absolute disgust and disdain at the words men's the groaning howl she let out was quite disturbing!

Yep. This happened.

Dolores87 · 17/08/2023 16:31

Misandry? This is a stretch.

I mean she was rude.

But also i agree with her that the venue choosing to play some mens 1st football instead of the womens team in the final stages of the world cup pretty poor tbh

I realise I am just someone on the internet, but the fact that a game did clash is a clue that this is not made up. I don't care about football, especially when I'm having a fantastic holiday, so I don't keep track of time or days.

I know it may astound you but there really are people that are that self-important and entitled that they go to other countries and expect to be obeyed by business owners. Men and women both.

One lesson in business that bar owners abroad have learned is that they have a business if they offer what people want. If you follow the football, you still want to watch it. It isn't being entitled because the bar up the road will be happy of your custom. Are you in a country that doesn't have a team? Even in Eygpt 20 years ago, there were business savvy bars who would have the football the football on and do real bacon.

Not made up. It was Friday and I don't know the timings but the owner told her that he was playing the Prem when it comes on due to a first come first served request.

The only men's PL game was at 8pm UK time on Friday, Burnley v Man City.

There were no women's games on at that time. None of the Women's World Cup games are on in the evenings UK time. They're all in the mornings.

@Ifeelsuchflutterings really I thought it would be who spends the most Grin

How on earth do you know who spent more and whether or not the business owner lost out from a whole table leaving though?

seriouslysolonge · 17/08/2023 16:33

@ManateeFair it was because I saw the other thread of someone saying they were furious that the Royal Family weren't going, It made me giggle and it reminded me of the howling woman.

Well something certainly sounds extremely exaggerated

Not really. There are plenty around. Especially the ones who demand that we should care about women's football because they are women. Can I not care about any of it please😆

Ponoka7 · 17/08/2023 16:35

@User135644, it was more in reply to the OP thinking it's funny that unlike the men's game, our royal family isn't supporting the women's team and people point that out.

They honoured a previous first come first served request, so not really.

OP there weren’t any premier league games on at the same time as the women’s game.

When you want to make up stuff to post a goadie thread about it I suggest you do your homework.

MrsTerryPratchett · 17/08/2023 16:40

I was agreeing @GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing !

seriouslysolonge · 17/08/2023 16:40

@Beechtreenuts I know it's difficult to imagine that middle aged women can behave like toddlers - weird noises and all!

What the fuck are you talking about?

Care to elaborate on my history of making up threads? Go on, give us all a laugh

takealettermsjones · 17/08/2023 16:45

While I am in no way convinced this happened, I don't really see what's wrong with someone asking for the game on, being told no, and then deciding she'd rather take her custom elsewhere. The owner can make up the "lost" custom with walk ins. People don't show up for reservations all the time; it's not ideal, but it's part and parcel of running a restaurant. If she was rude that is a separate issue, of course. I just don't know why you're so invested nor why you've assumed this is misandry.

seriouslysolonge · 17/08/2023 16:45

Care to prove how I'm making up a thread. That's you, you have form!

Do these all inclusive resorts still do free alcohol as part of the package. Coupled with the sun it’s lethal y’know.

It is walk ins too yes, but it was a large table and the poor man was trying to honour a previous request. Reserving a table and not turning up is equally as rude and entitled in my opinion.

Please don't bother commenting if you don't believe it happened. It makes you all look rather weird to waste your time.

Bye now.

P.S I hope the Lionesses win, but I would rather relax on holiday than get furious and outraged about whether the RF show up
Etc etcSome people need to get a real problem.

Anyone can comment anything, you cannot control an open forum

And there's only one person looking weird here...

That said you are more entertaining than the sea serpent threads so kudos on that I guess

Caprisunny · 17/08/2023 16:57

Then go relax. You can no need the royal/football threads.

I am so confused by this tbh. I don’t understand if this woman got the time of the football wrong or the bar owner didn’t know what time he was saving the TV for The PL game.

Bit he has nothing to do with Misandrists. The woman was rude and got annoyed mens football was being prioritised . There’s no suggestion she hates men.

User135644 · 17/08/2023 16:59

I don't know where the OP is posting from but Arsenal Premier League game (that overlapped with the England match) was on a more obscure channel, so people more likely to go out to the pub to watch it.

England game was on BBC (and kicked off in the morning when most pubs are shut) therefore people less likely to go out to watch it.
