Women's football brings out the entitled misandrists

On holiday and a table was booked by a woman. She started off complaining to the owner about the amount of places set, it turned out that she has got her numbers wrong. No apology for her rudeness.

She then told him he was to put the women's football on. He said the TV had been booked at whatever time but he could turn it on until then.
She said why what is on and he said the premier league's 1st game men's football, She let out a massive groan at the word men's football and told everyone to get up and leave!

This entitled imbecile reserved the table and tried to lose the place money as she couldn't get her way. Luckily the place is very popular so the owner didn't lose any money.

AIBU to think that all these demands that everything must stop because women are playing football are by the entitled types, who impose their views on everybody else. Personally I couldn't give a toss which sex is playing!

@seriouslysolonge Didn't happen did it.

Embarrassing.

BerriesandLeaves · 17/08/2023 15:45

I'd love to know what the groaning would have been like if a men's world cup game WHILE THE TEAM WAS ON FIRE was stopped in favour of a women's non-world cup game. 'Groaning' would have been flipped tables and fighting

Fair point

Someone on the other thread is furious because the Royal Family aren't there. Grin

England are in a world cup final for the first time in over half a century I am no royalist at all, and I don't actually care either way, but I would expect them to be there.

seriouslysolonge · 17/08/2023 15:45

@ItsNotRocketSalad You're entitled to your opinion! We are all nobodies to each other!

Lol, I am not a misogynist.

You might need to rethink that.

You didn't answer what you would think if the situations were reversed and a bloke asked if the venue could play the World Cup. How do you think he might respond if they said no?

I know you're trying to make a tiresome point OP, much as the woman in your OP was. But the fact is that sexism in sports is very much one way.

I do agree with this - I’m not sure if you’re agreeing with me or not!

seriouslysolonge · 17/08/2023 15:48

Not made up. It was Friday and I don't know the timings but the owner told her that he was playing the Prem when it comes on due to a first come first served request.

You don't know the time that you were in a restaurant/ pub only a day or two ago?

Na na na

We’re En-ger-land
We’re gonna score one more than you

Come on the Lionesses - would much sooner watch the England Team, than a load of overpaid premiership players, rolling around on the floor as soon as someone runs too close to them.

Well exactly. And since Australia isn't a republic yet might have been good to be there for that game as well.

seriouslysolonge · 17/08/2023 15:54

@arethereanyleftatall Well I hope they would have used their brains and either gone to a dedicated sports bar that actively advertised the game and if not they would not blame it on the poor business owner.

What's interesting is that on Friday there was one Men's premier league game - Burnley v Man City - kick off was at 8pm (UK time)
In the women's world cup there were two games - Spain V Holland - kick off was at 2am (UK), and Japan v Sweden - kick off was at 8.30am (UK).
I'm puzzled as to how these matches clashed.

seriouslysolonge · 17/08/2023 15:58

No I'm relaxing on holiday, I barely know the day let alone the time! So she left for nothing then? Lol

araiwa · 17/08/2023 16:00

There haven't been any clashes between premier League games and the wwc

seriouslysolonge · 17/08/2023 16:01

It was definitely the first game of the Premier League though.

Much like the “men’s” premier league, I can’t get into women’s football.

Does that make me a misogynist or a misandrist?

But you know they wouldn't have. They would have been raging. We can all picture exactly what they would have behaved like. A poster up thread detailed fighting. And yet, the woman who only voiced her displeasure, has angered you, I'm sure you even voiced, or at least thought, that she was another misogynistic word beginning with K. Whereas she has undoubtedly behaved far better, relatively, than the reversed situation would have resulted in. In fact, it wouldn't have happened, because the men wouldn't have been told no. That's a word reserved just for women.

Brilliant. Rumbled. Misogyny.

Elsiebear90 · 17/08/2023 16:03

I know for a fact many men would be up in arms if a World Cup men’s semi final wasn’t shown in favour of another match, so YABU, the women was rude, but she had a point.

Would you have said the same if the people wanting to watch the men's football were doing the complaining

Tbh it sounds like you have come to a forum that's mainly posted on by women to complain about women

Maybe try reddit?

This. Must be a wind up.

seriouslysolonge · 17/08/2023 16:05

Well she left for nothing if their were no clashes! Poor man could have lost business for nothing in that case. just because he mentioned that he would have to play a prem game, as it had been requested. He doesn't like football at all, so he must have been confused too.

LittleLegsKeepGoing · 17/08/2023 16:06

OK, so just to get this straight.

At either 2am Friday morning (Sweden v Japan) or 8.30am Friday morning (Spain vs Netherlands) a woman turned up for at a pre-booked table and was told she was able to watch the women's world cup games but at 8pm on Friday the TV was reserved for the Premier League's first match so her response was to howl? all times based on BST

And based on this likely timetable of events you're claiming misandry. That's a reach worthy of Mr Fantastic!

myrtleWilson · 17/08/2023 16:06

Burnley v Man City was a 8pm KO on the 11th, Spain v Netherlands was on at 3.30am on 11th and Japan v Sweden was at 8am on the 11th - thats quite a gap in time. Was she hoping to find a channel showing a repeat or was she there at 8am (UK time) and stropped because the channel would be switched over 12 hours later?
