Women's football brings out the entitled misandrists

On holiday and a table was booked by a woman. She started off complaining to the owner about the amount of places set, it turned out that she has got her numbers wrong. No apology for her rudeness.

She then told him he was to put the women's football on. He said the TV had been booked at whatever time but he could turn it on until then.
She said why what is on and he said the premier league's 1st game men's football, She let out a massive groan at the word men's football and told everyone to get up and leave!

This entitled imbecile reserved the table and tried to lose the place money as she couldn't get her way. Luckily the place is very popular so the owner didn't lose any money.

AIBU to think that all these demands that everything must stop because women are playing football are by the entitled types, who impose their views on everybody else. Personally I couldn't give a toss which sex is playing!

Burnley v Man City was a 8pm KO on the 11th, Spain v Netherlands was on at 3.30am on 11th and Japan v Sweden was at 8am on the 11th - thats quite a gap in time. Was she hoping to find a channel showing a repeat or was she there at 8am (UK time) and stropped because the channel would be switched over 12 hours later?

It was definitely the first game of the Premier League though.

Which was on 8pm UK time but the women’s matches were 2am and 8am?

seriouslysolonge · 17/08/2023 16:10

12.30 kick off for the men's game and 11.30 for the women's

12.30 kick off for the men's game and 11.30 for the women's

And to think it only took you 1 hr to google that and change your story. Funny not knowing if you were in this pub on Friday night or Saturday morning until now!

Mumof2teens79 · 17/08/2023 16:14

Well mancity Burnley kicked off at 8pm UK time
You haven't said if you were on holiday in the UK or not?
The womens world cup is in Australia.
England didn't play on Friday. The games shown on Friday were 2am UK time and 8.30am UK time...and didn't involve England (assuming this woman was English?)

There are definitely women who get on their high horse about feminist issues but as a feminist, IF the matches had been on at the same time then she has a point

Ifeelsuchflutterings · 17/08/2023 16:14

I wonder what the word is for people who make up stories about women to make them look bad....

It was definitely the first game of the Premier League though.

Which was the Burnely game on Friday night. So was it definitely the first game of the Premier League, or in fact just the first game being played on Saturday?

seriouslysolonge · 17/08/2023 16:15

I just love the owner and his family and was so happy the spoilt brat didn't lose him money.

No I was upset that the owner would lose money and he looked really sad, as he doesn't even like football and doesn't really know what going on in that regard as he's not into football.

So where are you on holiday?
Are you an arsenal fan by any chance?

Sirzy · 17/08/2023 15:20

Her response was nothing to do with anything expect her being rude.

i don’t like football but I am amazed that somewhere which shows sports didn’t prioritise the women’s game if it’s the England game you mean.

Proprietors would go with the majority. OP would have meant the quarter final on Saturday. Arsenal game started during the second half. It might be an Arsenal bar.

How would he lose money?
Did he not lose money because she left?

I wonder what the word is for people who make up stories about women to make them look bad....

I realise I am just someone on the internet, but the fact that a game did clash is a clue that this is not made up. I don't care about football, especially when I'm having a fantastic holiday, so I don't keep track of time or days.

I know it may astound you but there really are people that are that self-important and entitled that they go to other countries and expect to be obeyed by business owners. Men and women both.

Boy money is worth more than girl money don't forget

Ponoka7 · 17/08/2023 16:24

So it's ok for the matches to be treated differently because they are being played by women? A lot of 'football' bars in Turkey wasn't showing women's football and thankfully people have walked out, because sexism isn't ok. Hth.

seriouslysolonge · 17/08/2023 16:24

Because she reserved a table and demanded everyone get up to leave

OP posts:
eurochick · 17/08/2023 16:25

She was rude but can you imagine the uproar if a pub put women's sport on during the men's World Cup?

@Ifeelsuchflutterings really I thought it would be who spends the most Grin

ManateeFair · 17/08/2023 16:26

When was this? The last time there would have been any clash between the Premier League and the Women's World Cup would have been on Saturday at 12.30, when the first Premier League games kicked off, I think, about 15 minutes before the end of the England-Colombia game. Seems like a lot of fuss over a 15 minute overlap.

Weird that you'd only mention this five days later, and weird that you think it's anything to do with 'misandry' rather than just someone being rude.
