First world problems and all that but I went to Screwfix yesterday to order to 2 small parts I couldn't buy in B&M or Wilkos in town. Not in stock there either but could order them in for today. I asked what time they opened - 9.00am and off I went. Turned up this morning at 11.00 to be told they're not in yet and won't be for at least another hour. It's a 15 mile round trip....... Would it have really hurt to have said "we open at 9 but don't come until after 12 as they won't have been delivered" Grrrrrrrrrrr

Unfortunately not. It's on an out of town industrial estate. Unless I drive to the Co-op which may not be a bad call so thank you

Would it not have been sensible to have contacted them this morning, prior to leaving the house, to check they had the parts?

If they were being delivered to the store I certainly wouldn't have expected them there at store opening time?

It’s annoying but I think the onus is on you to check the time, especially for a 15 mile roundtrip. Or the delivery could have been delayed to next week, so it could be worse.

Screwfix text you when the item is available for collection. That’s how it’s always been everytime I’ve ordered for instore pickup 🤷🏻‍♀️

The delivery may have been scheduled for an earlier delivery time - but was late turning up.
A bit annoying but that’s retail for you (I used to work retail before anyone thinks I am slagging them off).

Yes yes yes I completely get that I'm being totally unreasonable here - however she also didn't tell me I'd get a text when they arrived else I'd have stayed home til I received it. And to add insult to injury the text arrived as I pulled up on the drive at home so I've now come back.

I've ordered many things from Screwfix and the message explicitly says not to go until you have had a message to say the item is there.

This is on you I'm afraid, assuming that 'tomorrow' meant the same as 'from the moment the shop opens'.

Screwfix also make it clear on their website that you'll get a text.

These things ARE very annoying though.

Honestly, whilst I am pretty pissed off at the complete lack of communication from the girl who served me this was supposed to be fairly light hearted. And for those hard of understanding I DIDNT ORDER ONLINE , I went into the store

I went to wickes the other day for a very basic item and they didn’t have any in stock also quite a journey away from me (but on public transport ) This is why I stick to Amazon tbh and don’t bother with shops.

Have you checked your instore receipt for the info on when it'll be available? Or how they'll inform you when it arrives?

Not sure how this is the shops fault. How many businesses get bespoke orders, unpack them and have them on the shelves before 9am each day?

Even massive supermarkets, Joh Lewis and the like with their huge supply chain management systems ask you to wait until it's arrived.
