To wonder why the FUCK this guy isn’t in jail?!

A man has been given an 8 month suspended sentence after bashing the crap out of his 15 year old daughter with a metal bar. Apparently he did it because she’d committed the heinous crime of wearing make up to school… which she’d put on to cover up the bruises from previous times he’d bashed the crap out of her. Two years of abuse this child has endured at his hands.

But because this poor kid gave a statement asking for leniency, saying SHE feels guilty because SHE has brought shame on her family, he’s basically got away with it.

AIBU to think this man is a violent criminal who belongs in prison?!

He has brought shame on his family. He could have dealt with this in a different way .

No, he’s brought shame on himself. His family are not responsible for his actions.

Pot8ohs · 04/08/2023 13:50

WTF? That’s horrific.

Is it too late to complain about the sentence being unduly lenient? There’s a procedure for this I think?

HedgesNotFences · 04/08/2023 13:51

Is this not like Rochdale when authorities ignored the issue’s because of cultural fears/concerns? You would hope people would learn.

Yes that is a huge worry.

IIRC the woman who initially raised cocerns about men who ran takeaways abusing girls was sent on an equality and diversity course rather than being listened to

AutumnCrow · 04/08/2023 13:58

Members of the public can contact the Attorney general and ask a sentence to be referred to the Unduly Lenient Sentence scheme. Or you can ask your MP to do it, asap.

I read this story too and I want to grab that poor girl and give her the most wonderful life possible. Her mother (possibly terrified herself) is clearly complicit, telling her to cover her bruises and the daughter stating that her mother cannot cope with her younger brothers so they need her father back just screams to me that no adults are putting their children first.

can you fathom the terror of an adult in your home BITING you. It’s like a horror film.

I hope social services /school etc are keeping a very close eye on the family and for sure they should remove her passport just in case she was to suddenly disappear on a ‘holiday’

WalnutBlue · 04/08/2023 14:02

It sends a disturbing message, as long as you are not white and from a different culture, you'll get a slap on the wrist for abusing and threatening to kill women.

We are supposed to be safeguarding
children, this girl is a child and no doubt been made to feel guilty for admitting to abuse.

risefromyourgrave · 04/08/2023 13:43

Fucking hell, he bit her?!!
The very telling part of her statement is that she feels she brought shame on the family. I would think she has been pressured from within the home to say these things.

This is a truly horrific case but this part really hit me

That poor poor girl.

This is the uk . Women are not second class citizens. They are equal to men apart from body strength . He should have been jailed and made an example of .

The evidence would very much suggest we are still second class citizens. Too big a proportion of the ruling classes still see us as chattels - he damaged his property, where's the crime in that?

I would strongly suggest that if the defendant had attacked one of the judge's peers like this he'd have been spending the next 5 years inside.

userxx · 04/08/2023 14:13

I'd like to give him a taste of his own medicine. Let him know how it feels to be abused and terrified.

Lostinplaces · 04/08/2023 14:25

Women and girls do not matter in the eyes of the law. We will never matter.

We all l know why he wasn't sent to prison. The "justice" system is extra lenient on foreign cultures where women and girls are routinely beaten if they "shame" the family and are bought and sold for marriage like property. Instead, it should be hammering these men, but people in charge in this country are too weak and afraid to tackle this head on. The police are also afraid to confront it head on. This is when weakness becomes evil.

LovedmyRaleighChopper · 04/08/2023 14:28

This is like Rochdale all over again. Different rules for different ethnic groups. Apparently the judicial system learned nothing although as always I’m sure “lessons must be learned” was parroted.

tt9 · 04/08/2023 14:28

what utter bullshit is this.... have social services gone mad? at least the children need to be removed from this home...

the fact that she says she has "brought shame" on her family... heartbreaking

PumpkinsAndCoconuts · 04/08/2023 14:38

horrifying.

NotTerfNorCis · 04/08/2023 14:52

Definitely deserved a prison sentence. The poor girl is blaming herself. Her father beat and she believes she brought shame on the family. Not jailing him and sends a terrible message.

LakeTiticaca · 04/08/2023 15:13

Just look at the Rochdale/Rotherham and other UK towns grooming scandal to see how these things are dealt with.
Young vulnerable girls sacrificed on the altar of political correctness.

coxesorangepippin · 04/08/2023 15:17

I worked with a similar young girl. She had a white boyfriend. The family found out and we never saw her again. Later found out she had been sent to Pakistan for good.

That'll learn her!!

coxesorangepippin · 04/08/2023 15:18

“Adapt to new cultural behaviour expected of him”?

^

Maybe if he did a long stretch in Strangeways he adapt quicker???

Jux · 04/08/2023 15:22

Trouble is if he'd been imprisoned it could have brought even worse treatment down on the poor child. She has brothers and uncles who could have murdered her (honour killing) for the shame she brought down on them all by causing her dad to be jailed, or she could have been packed off to Pakistan to a forced marriage where she could be treated even worse.

I have a friend who had made quite a study of the history and practices of Islam (he's Pakistani, Muslim) etc, while he was growing up in Pakistan.

Two possibly worse fates for her could be, he says,

"Being sent back to your parents country to be married to a jobless 65yr old bc you clearly can’t be trusted to live in the west but you’ve brought too much shame on your family to be married to a man your age with prospects"

and

"Or maybe your own mother will kill you for bringing dishonour on her and your siblings and it’s the only way for her to scrape their lives back together."

Complete corruption of what is actually in the Quran. My friend also thinks thatmost of the shitty stuff isn't in the Quran, it's the Hadiths - and you can pretty well pick and choose those, he says.

towriteyoumustlive · 04/08/2023 15:25

That article made my blood run cold with the words spoken by the 15 year old girl. The fact her dad abused her but she said she still loved him and the family needed him, which is why he seemed to get let off without serving time.

WTAF!?! The girl is clearly brainwashed and afraid of him.

Nottodaty · 04/08/2023 15:26

That poor child and family.

I sadly feel she will either disappear to another country or worse. At what point is another lesson learnt ACTUALLY learn from them. Or is is just another female hurt by a male AGAIN.

If she does disappear each one of those involved lawyers, judges etc should be held accountable. As their choices led to it as did his and his alone to hurt a child.

Illbebythesea · 04/08/2023 15:51

Emily235 · 04/08/2023 16:14

This is disturbing. He should be in prision and the poor girl should be removed from her family and safeguarded.

What is actually going on in the world? This feels so very very wrong.
