Desperate for help (Birmingham, Twitter, car keys, NCP)

AIBU to beg for help from strangers on the internet?

I’m on holiday in Birmingham with three kids. I parked in an NCP car park on Monday night and we’ve been staying in a car park since.

We checked out this morning to leave and head home (Brighton) via Coventry to see my Nan (90 years old).

I can’t find my car keys 🤦🏻‍♀️

I have key cover on my car insurance and i don't think its a declarable claim at renewal.

Toiletry bag?

You’re right, it’s like windscreen cover, you can claim without having to declare it as a claim at renewal.
Definitely worthwhile for OP to check car and home contents insurance for key cover!

I was at the supermarket one day loading the shopping into the boot. Shut the boot and realised about a second later that I’d chucked the keys inside and that I’d only unlocked the boot and not the whole car. Keys now locked inside the car.

Luckily I still had my phone in my pocket. I had to call a very annoyed Dh who had to leave work, drive back to our house, still in his work gear, to get the spare and then drive it up to me at the supermarket. And then he had to drive back to work. I was fine, I went back into the supermarket and had a coffee while I waited.

Can’t do that with my current car, it has an electric boot and can tell if the key is inside. Thank god.

Op I hope you’re ok and didn’t have to fork out £££s to get into your car. If it’s any help, get yourself an air tag or tile or whatever, I have one on my keys now, it’s peace of mind.

Last time I lost my car keys they were in the ignition of the car. I’ve still not lived it down at work. Security often ask if I have my keys as I pass.

Check behind the radiator. We went Butlins last year and my son put the car keys behind the radiator. I still don't know how we foundt them.. we was very lucky.

@LostCarKeys glad you’ve got it sorted, my only suggestion (following a situation with lost car keys myself) would be to join local facebook groups as someone may have found them and posted on there hoping to find the owner. We did this and managed to locate our lost car key! I was so relieved

I got home about 20 mins ago. It's been an eventful day. I'll post an update tomorrow for any of you who are invested.

So the AA man came and sorted things for her, and she got home last night.

Type in 'lost car key' in search bar on facebook to see what comes up. Just done it & there are loads of posts up c/w pics so common thing to happen. My now hubby lost his car key whilst on holiday abroad, the car tucked up back in long stay carpark at our nearest airport (90 miles from home).A drama to say the least! 🤦‍♀️😩Good luck, hope you find them 🤞

Once I parked my car, opened the boot, came out of driver seat , locked the car with the fob. Put the fob down in the boot, took stuff out and shut the boot. So, left fob inside the boot of locked car. Perhaps thats where your keys are?

Only read this post tonight and it made me thimk about the prayer to St Anthony I did as a last resort when I lost my passport recently. I had the whole house upside down but ended up ordering a new one. Anyway, I was just packing for a holiday and was getting a watch out of my cabinet and behind the storage basket was my passport!! The prayer did work. He was just about 3 weeks late 😫😄.
OP I hope you're ok after all that stress yesterday.

Sorry to hear of your key saga. One thing, I recently got stung for £120 worth of ULEZ fines because I hadn't visited Birmingham before and didn't notice the signs on the way in/no signs on the motorway like other cities.
So check you don't have a ULEZ fee due.
