Do you use it much and can you cook family meals in it quicker than using your oven?
Im looking at the dual max ninja but it is a big investment and I’m not 100 percent sure I’ll use it enough. Need some inspiration!!

Yes I have the ninja dual air fryer- I’m glad I bought it. So easy and things cook so much quicker. Did sausages & hash brown earlier in mine. Would have taken 20 minutes in conventional oven, only 10 minutes in air fryer.

Starlightstarbright2 · 30/07/2023 23:00

I use mine . D’s (16) cooks lots of freezer food in it . I cooked chicken thighs in them yesterday then threw them in a stir fry .

if you use your oven a lot definitely recommended .

Approaching · 30/07/2023 23:01

Yep, had it a few months and the only time I’ve switched the oven on since has been for pizza. Love it!

Murphs1 · 30/07/2023 23:02

Sounds good! What sort of things do you cook in it?

I don't understand all the fuss, I'm watching with interest.

Biscuitandacuppa · 30/07/2023 23:03

I have two! I have a single drawer ninja (wish it was the double) and the ninja multicooker. The multicooker gets used the most and the pressure cooker function is brilliant. Things cook quickly on a lower temperature and taste better than the oven.

Twothousandandjustonemore · 30/07/2023 23:04

I resisted for ages but then had one given me. When it breaks I will be getting a bigger one because this is far too small. We use it at least once a day.

In the airfryer I cook -
chips, fish, nuggets, sausages, bacon, burgers, chicken drumsticks/quarters, roast potatoes, roasted veg.
In the multicooker-
roast chicken (pressure cook then airfry), pasta, rice, chilli, bolognese, stew, boiled eggs, steamed fish, pork chops, curry, veg soup, cakes, muffins, biscuits, basically most things.

Pinkitydrinkity · 30/07/2023 23:07

I have a Tefal one, it is handy to have but it’s 4.2L and no way big enough to make a meal for a family!

Biscuitandacuppa · 30/07/2023 23:07

Oh and the jacket potatoes are amazing and take half the time.

Pjmasksonrepeat · 30/07/2023 23:08

We have a dual drawer but it's tower opposed to ninja. We love it and hardly use the oven now. We use it for heating up pastries for breakfast, any freezer food, waffles, chips, nuggets, meat, fish, bacon and bake cupcakes and cookies in it. Love having the 2 drawers as can time match them to finish cooking at the same time.

For us the benefit is being able to cook things quicker without having to preheat. We have a smart meter and it's a lot happier when the oven isnt on.

Second this!

Murphs1 · 30/07/2023 23:11

Thanks this is all helpful, it sounds like I might need both like @Biscuitandacuppa ! Has anyone tried casseroles or chilli in their air fryers?

I have one, I’ve had mine about 6 years as I worked for Russell hobbs when they made it and got one on staff sales. It’s still going strong, used it today to make the roast potatoes as done in half the time. Not big enough for a family meal but I used it a lot when my daughter was small as she ate earlier than me and hubby and it was quicker. I use it at least a couple of times a week. When it eventually dies I’ll get a bigger one.

Yep!I put the contence into a cake tin and cover with foil.

FluffyDiplodocus · 30/07/2023 23:16

We’ve recently got one and really like it. All standard beige things that you would usually cook in an oven (chips etc) come out well, I’ve done roast chickpeas, halloumi, roast veg, tofu etc very successfully in less than 10 min. We haven’t done anything in it and had a single disaster, and we use it at least once a day!

Ohhh could you share how you cook bacon? I've bacon to cook this week. A real treat as veggie husband so I don't usually bother. Grill or oven? On a foil tray?

TheGriffle · 30/07/2023 23:19

We use ours a lot. The oven now mainly only goes on for pizza. I have a Tower dual drawer and it is just about big enough for our family of 4.
We cook chips, sausage, fish fingers, nuggets, roast potatoes, jacket potatoes, bake your own bread, cookie dough, fajitas, pastries, chicken wings, whole chicken, roasted veg, loads. I’ve made air fried rice in mine when we first got it which took longer than doing it in the pan but now I know that doesn’t work so I don’t do it again. We even make our own subway style toasted sandwiches with the Aldi dupe rolls, one in each drawer.

Bouncyball23 · 30/07/2023 23:20

My ds asked me the other day if i could remember how to work the oven obviously he was joking but yes I use the air fryer most days.

Imissivillage · 30/07/2023 23:02

I don't understand all the fuss, I'm watching with interest.

For me it's because I live alone and stuff I CBA putting the oven on for
Like a part baked bread roll or a garlic naan for with soup
Lidl frozen pastel de nata
Chips to go with an omelette
Potato waffles for a quick tea

That kind of stuff where I think putting the oven on seems a waste

@Imissivillage
@Murphs1

frozen sausages to cooked sausages 20 mins. No pre heating if they oven, no heating a whole oven for 6 sausages. Oven chips 10 mins.

toasted sandwiches in a few minutes and NO toaster to clean!

brilliant for 'quick' and small quantities.

i got it a few months ago & haven't had the oven on since.

mine is a slightly smaller but still 2 drawer (sur la table -Costco)

for me it's more not feeling like it's a waste to put the oven on for small amounts & its SOOOOO fast!

i don't regret buying it at all.

ReginaPerrin · 30/07/2023 23:22

I use mine loads, I even warm up pittas, flatbreads and Nan breads in it.

My favourite dish is salmon, asparagus, mushrooms and peppers - takes about 11 mins to cook in total. Jacket potatoes are great and take far less time than a conventional oven, and chicken breasts come out really moist.

If I’m making a big roast dinner, I put the stuffing balls, pigs in blankets and frozen Yorkshires (judge me not!) in the air fryer so I don’t have to keep opening the oven door whilst the joint and potatoes are cooking.

Floatlikeafeather2 · 30/07/2023 23:23

I have probably used my oven 6 times in the last 12 months. I had a really cheap one for a few years then splashed out on a slightly bigger (but not huge) one last winter. I could easily survive without an oven at all, and I do cook from scratch most of the time. I got one with a squarer basket so that I can fit roasting tins etc in it and a few functions in addition to air-frying - bake, roast, grill, reheat and dehydrate. I cook meals in it daily but also bake cakes and make things like toasted sandwiches, cheese on toast etc. I'm a big fan!

Remaker · 30/07/2023 23:25

I use mine for chips, jacket potatoes, smashed potatoes. Meatballs are so much better and easier than shallow frying as I did previously. Same for schnitzels, though my Tefal can only fit max 3 chicken schnitzels so I have to do them in batches.

Great for anything from the freezer too.
