Do you use it much and can you cook family meals in it quicker than using your oven?
Im looking at the dual max ninja but it is a big investment and I’m not 100 percent sure I’ll use it enough. Need some inspiration!!

I think if you do a lot of beige food or warm things up a lot, or maybe a student or someone living on their own they are great. I don't see the appeal for a family cooking normal family meals. We have one which was given to us. Admittedly it quite small which may be the problem. I've cooked sausages in it - fine but could have used the frying pan, ditto bacon. I'm just underwhelmed by the whole thing. It's just more clutter on the work surface.

Milkand2sugarsplease · 30/07/2023 23:26

We waited for ages to get one because I was sceptical about the outlay versus the use I'd get from it.

Reality - my big oven hasn't been on since I got it, my little one/grill has been used a handful of times - mainly to warm up a separate meal for older DS if we're having something he doesn't like.

Best money we've spent and my DH geek has noticed a drop in the electricity bill since getting it so we're recouping the cost of the purchase.

Titsywoo · 30/07/2023 23:28

We use it a lot for bacon, chips, breaded chicken etc

Pjmasksonrepeat · 30/07/2023 23:29

@TruthThatsHardAsSteel ooh enjoy! We do it at 200C and flip it after 3 mins and then cook for another 4 mins but depends on whether you like crispy or just done. If you like it just done then it probably only needs 4-6 in total. We tend to just put it into the drawer with no foil in oven mode making sure the slices don't overlap😊

Maddy70 · 30/07/2023 23:29

I love the ninja. Easy to clean just put the basket in the dishwasher after use.

Milkand2sugarsplease · 30/07/2023 23:30

Most made meals would be

  1. Roast dinner - far quicker than the oven.
  2. Bacon and egg on toast - one tray, less mess, done in a flash. My favourite lunch now.
  3. Meat for use in curries etc cooks beautifully and stays moist.
ExitThroughTheGiftShop · 30/07/2023 23:34

I live mine. Don't try cheese toasties in it, though - it ends up looking like a Jackson Pollack.

ArianaGrande · 30/07/2023 23:34

Yes,and it gets used every day.

i have the 15 in 1 which is also a slow cooker/pressure cooker/sauté pan/yogurt maker/steamer etc etc! You can layer up your food to make a complete dinner.

The two drawer one also looks good though.

Cooks a whole chicken a bit like a rotisserie so no slimey bits underneath!

NewNameNigel · 30/07/2023 23:35

I was given one and it's amazing.
I have cooked a whole chicken, roast veg, toasted sandwiches/pita pockets, jacket potatos, sweet potato fries, chicken thighs, fajitas, loads of veg fritters when we have a glut from the garden and other things I can't remember. Things cook in half the type and seem to have a much nicer texture.

WhateverMate · 30/07/2023 23:36

I got a Corsori air fryer for Christmas and honestly, I've never looked back.

My only gripe is there are 4 adults here and I wish I could find a massive air fryer that fits more food in.

I know you can buy dual drawer fryers, but they still seem to be the same combined size.

I'd like a double decker one so one large fryer draw on top of another, to save worktop space.

surreygirl1987 · 30/07/2023 23:43

Yes! I use it most days! I wish I had a dual one.

Redglitter · 30/07/2023 23:45

Approaching · 30/07/2023 23:01

Yep, had it a few months and the only time I’ve switched the oven on since has been for pizza. Love it!

Same here. Everything else gets done in the airfryer

PyongyangKipperbang · 31/07/2023 00:01

I have two. Oven hasnt been on for almost a year.

There is very little you cant make in them if you pick the right one!

Eltonjaunice · 31/07/2023 00:05

Only thing is doesn't too is proper chips, only way to do them is a deep fat fryer but for everything else it's very handy.

thats what I'm getting from this thread, sounds good if you eat a lot of things from the freezer. We tend to have more "saucy" meals with rice or pasta.

Dixiechickonhols · 31/07/2023 00:08

I have this one use it multiple times a day. Love it.

Aswell as airfryer has a grill and bake function too. Much quicker than oven. You can cook joints of meat - insert probe and select how done.

I put the foil trays in it so you can make cottage pie for 4 etc.

Gingerlygreen · 31/07/2023 00:10

I've rarely used my oven since buying a Ninja 9 in 1 two years ago.

I quickly realised though that I needed a second one and so bought the xl grill which is great for doing meat, it has a probe so just stick it in the steak or chicken breast etc and it turns off once it's cooked.

I do use the hob alongside though as I'll do things like curry in the Ninja then the rice on the hob although the Ninja does do great rice.

The only thing I use my oven for is whole chickens or joints of meat, they can be done in the Ninja but I'm too scared of ruining expensive food!

If you're on Facebook there are a few Ninja groups where people post recipes, I tried Toad in the Hole from there and it was lovely

Biscuitandacuppa · 31/07/2023 00:10

@Imissivillage I have a 15in1 multicooker/airfryer and can cook bolognese/chilli etc in it, I also use it for pasta and rice using the pressure cooker function. Rice takes 3 minutes of cooking and 10mins resting, comes out fluffy and not starchy. I also make stews and soups in it. You can layer things in it on a rack, so veg at the bottom and fish/meat at the top as well which is handy.

Dixiechickonhols · 31/07/2023 00:12

I mainly cook from scratch and use it daily.
Last few days I’ve done salmon in it, cottage pie, baked oats, homemade quiche.
It is also useful for reheating ‘beige’ my teen uses it a lot.

Biscuitandacuppa · 31/07/2023 00:13

@Gingerlygreen roast chicken is amazing, pressure cook first and then airfry. The fat drips underneath so the chicken isn’t sitting in it and the meat is lovely and moist. Some people turn the chicken breast side down halfway through but I’ve never bothered and it’s always fine.

Davros · 31/07/2023 00:16

I had bacon and sausages cooked in one the other day. It was dreadful

PyongyangKipperbang · 31/07/2023 00:20

An airfryer is basically a mini fan oven so if the food is not nice its because the cook isnt a good cook. Anything you can do in an oven, you can air fry, plus anything you can fry you can air fry.

I have two and a Tefal Connect pressure cooker and honestly there is nothing I cant cook with them. We are by far NOT a beige food family, and sauces, rice, pasta etc can all be done with a combination of those and the microwave, we have saved A LOT of money by not using the cooker.

JennyWreny · 31/07/2023 00:31

I have the dual drawer ninja and use it all the time. Take a look at "Bored of Lunch" on instagram etc - he has the same air fryer and lots of recipes - I make his Crispy Bejing Beef all the time. It's great. There's also Facebook groups for that specific model. People on the Facebook groups post what they have cooked with the timings they have used. I found that getting the right timings took a bit of practice. I was forever overcooking things - which was daft as it's really easy to open the drawer to check how it's going while it is in the middle of cooking.

FrenchBoule · 31/07/2023 00:45

I have Ninja multicooker. The function I use most is pressure cook (ragu, meatballs, curry) and air fry (beige food)
I used it for steaming food (salmon and beans) and cooking whole chicken (pressure cook first then air fry).

nalabae · 31/07/2023 00:45
