Do you use it much and can you cook family meals in it quicker than using your oven?
Im looking at the dual max ninja but it is a big investment and I’m not 100 percent sure I’ll use it enough. Need some inspiration!!

@TruthThatsHardAsSteel ooh enjoy! We do it at 200C and flip it after 3 mins and then cook for another 4 mins but depends on whether you like crispy or just done. If you like it just done then it probably only needs 4-6 in total. We tend to just put it into the drawer with no foil in oven mode making sure the slices don't overlap😊

Perfect I'm gonna try it this week. I don't particularly like fried bacon, but do like crispy so that's amazing, thanks!

Chappers001 · 31/07/2023 01:01

I've had the Ninja Foodi for about a year and not used my cooker since greeting the ninja, sooooo much easier all around

Nat6999 · 31/07/2023 01:07

I've got a Ninja Dual Zone air fryer & use it nearly every day, I cook steaks, veg, pizza, bacon, sausages, just about anything I would normally cook in the oven. Ironically, the only thing I don't cook in it is chips, I just can't get the timings right, so I still cook them in the oven.

Blueuggboots · 31/07/2023 01:31

I've got a ninja multi and I use it every day. I only use my cooker for cakes.

Kryten1958 · 31/07/2023 03:09

I bought a Philips 6.2L single drawer air fryer and it is my current 'false god', I paid £200 for it about a year ago. It is now only £130 at JL. Favourites include corn on the cob (195c for 15 mins), whole trout is only 20 minutes at 180c, and the humble oven chip is gourmet in the air fryer.

I’ve got the ninja dual zone and love it. Sausages and bacon done really quickly, not fat spitting away on the hob.

Roast chicken in one drawer, potatoes in the other - chuck M&S Yorkshire in quickly while the meat is resting.

Steak (a rare treat here) turned out lovely.

Having two drawers is great. You can synch them so everything finishes at the same time, no faffing about keeping an eye on timings.

Definitely useful for things like part-baked rolls, naan bread etc - no heating the oven for such small items.

inappropriateraspberry · 31/07/2023 03:51

Is it good for cooking meat and vegetarian at the same time? Or are they too small and risk cross contamination? I'm veggie but rest of family aren't. for instance, I don't want my veggie sausages covered in meat sausage juice and fat! Is there a way of keeping them separate in containers. I have looked at the drawer ones but they all seem to share a base so juices mix underneath.

Contraversialcate · 31/07/2023 03:56

Anyone got a machine they can sauté in? Thinking for the base of curries stews etc. I know technically a multipot vs air fryer but looking for advice / recommendations pls!

Piglet89 · 31/07/2023 04:23

Husband bought me one for my birthday last May (Ninja) and It is utterly amazing. So brilliant for roasting chicken thighs or breasts before they go into curries. Outstanding for heating up frozen stuff, as others have said. Great homemade chips. Very quick and preheating time is lightning fast.

My husband’s Scottish; I ordered two huge sausages of Stornaway black pudding about 3 months ago, sliced then and froze. Takes 10 mins to take a couple of slices from frozen to cooked in air fryer. As others have said, really easy to clean as well.

Now use my big oven only for baking Scottish morning rolls and huge batch cook chillis/ragu.

Wouldn’t be without it.

OldTinHat · 31/07/2023 06:42

I have the ninja 7 in 1. Had it about 5yrs. I never use my oven anymore!

JMSA · 31/07/2023 06:43

I have one. It lives in the cellar. Honestly, I've tried to see the point and just can't.

useitorlose · 31/07/2023 06:48

Fabulessly Frugal on YouTube has loads of great ideas and advice.

CornishGem1975 · 31/07/2023 06:54

@WhateverMate You need the Ninja Flexdrawer.

FrivolousTreeDuck · 31/07/2023 06:57

Yes, we use it regularly and it's much quicker than our conventional oven. There's no pre-heat needed and then the cooking time is 1/3 to 1/2 less. However, we are only cooking for two people.

bladebladebla1 · 31/07/2023 06:57

I've got a double oven and have no reason to, don't feel like I'm missing out. I don't know why but to me it doesn't feel like proper cooking and I love cooking

Augustus40 · 31/07/2023 06:59

Yes it is great. Though yet to try jacket potatoes in it.

Uppersop · 31/07/2023 07:43

I’ve only used the main oven twice since I bought an air fryer last year and am already thinking of replacing it with a bigger, two drawer one in the near future. A couple of people I know have been very sniffy about air fryers, assuming that they are a gimmick or that you can only cook oven chips in them, but that’s simply not the case. However, I’m still gearing myself up to try ‘boiling’ an egg in it!

Murphs1 · 31/07/2023 07:45

Thanks for all your replies, it’s been very helpful. @Floatlikeafeather2 which model did you get that you can fit tins in? I must admit I’m torn as probably have meals more like chilli or curries so the multicooker cooker might be better but also eat a lot of fish and jacket spuds so the 2 drawer would come in handy as can cook both at the same time!!

autumnboys · 31/07/2023 07:52

We have the ninja dual drawer and between that and the slow cooker I rarely put the oven on.

The kids do freezer food in it. I cook a lot of of chicken thighs and often will cook them in there before adding them in to other dishes, to save time. As others have said, pastries, toasties. Veg roasts really nicely and quickly. I cook an ungodly amount of hallomi for lunch wraps in it too. I can stick it in, switch it on and get on with other things instead of standing over a frying pan. I can roast a chicken in one drawer and do potatoes in the other, stick frozen Yorkshires in while I carve.

Approaching · 31/07/2023 08:01

@inappropriateraspberry I have the ninja dual, the two compartments are totally separate so no cross contamination.

ranoutofquinoaandprosecco · 31/07/2023 08:01

I've got the ninja 9 in 1 and use it for loads of things. Total life saver when we were having a new kitchen fitted last year.
I use the pressure cooker for gammon, slow cooker for everything from chilli to pho, baking option for cakes, air fryer for chips etc and the dehydrator for biltong!

Jennywren2000 · 31/07/2023 08:08

I was a sceptic and only got one recently. I use it loads which I’m relieved about. For:

salmon fillets
chicken dishes
jacket potato
roasted veg

We eat a lot of fresh food so I wasn’t sure it would be useful but it has been great. Much quicker, no heating up oven & good for quick healthy meal.

Spendonsend · 31/07/2023 08:09

Im interested in these answers too. We do use out oven a lot but its notmally full. Im not confident that an air fryer would fit it all in.

It's an Instant Vortex Plus, I think. It easily fits the roasting tin I do roast potatoes in, a 2lb loaf tin, 8" cake tin etc. I have also put my cast iron casserole dish in there but without the lid, because it was too tall. I put either a silicone lid or tin foil over it - can't remember. Generally speaking, if you get a two drawer one, each drawer will be smaller than the one drawer that I have and I didn't think that would be as useful for our needs. If you want to do casseroles etc, don't forget to cover them because the nature of the cooker means the top surface will dry out.
