Do you use it much and can you cook family meals in it quicker than using your oven?
Im looking at the dual max ninja but it is a big investment and I’m not 100 percent sure I’ll use it enough. Need some inspiration!!

We have the Ninja 15 in 1. I can honestly say that it is the most used bit of kitchen equipment we have. I make chilli con carne, casseroles, varying types of potatoes, roast veg, soup, poached eggs, cakes...I could go on. I hardly ever use the main oven now except when I make a roast as not everything will fit in.

Im exactly the same, with the 15-in-1, except I don’t poach eggs in it. I can make a large roast chicken with crispy skin in 3/4 hour. We also use it a lot for homemade chips. It’s good for reheating things that don’t reheat well in he microwave and for cooking part-baked rolls, small meals, things you don’t wish to heat the big oven up for.

One thing against is the capacity disharmony. Used as slow cooker, hob, pressure cooker it’s huge, can easily make enough for 6-8. But using it to actually air-fry its capacity is less, say chips or fish for 4 but can’t do both.

could you cook, say, a Young's frozen fish fillet in one?
There are never instructions on food packaging for air fryers so would struggle to trust some things.

I’ve got the ninja dual drawer. The instruction booklet lists times/temps for a number of foods.

It also says that, if the food you’re cooking isn’t shown in the book, then use the temperature shown on the pack of food and reduce the cooking time by 25%.

Murphs1 · 31/07/2023 21:40

@iamyourequal oh that’s a shame there’s not capacity to air fry 2 things I was hoping there would be. Maybe I’ll have to get a single drawer one as well as the 15 in one I’ve just brought! 😂

You won’t regret buying it @Murphs1 the 15-in-1 is great. I use it all the time…..unlike my electric steamer, slow cooker, toastie maker, smoothie maker, popcorn maker, food processor ….😂

Murphs1 · 01/08/2023 06:38

@iamyourequal sounds familiar 😂 but don’t have a popcorn maker… yet!

I know it’s sad but I absolutely love my ninja. It’s the best thing I own 😂 I bake cakes in it and all sorts. Mine is big enough for a meal for 2/3 people, but you can get bigger ones if you need to.

I very rarely use my oven unless it’s something I can’t fit in like pizza.

You won’t regret buying one. All the people slagging them off on threads don’t understand their full capabilities or have really basic £20 models. Get an airfryer cookbook from Amazon.

JudgeRinderonTinder · 01/08/2023 07:16

Also if you buy one, don’t buy the silicone liners as they prevent proper airflow so the undersides of food don’t cook as well as the top. I don’t know about the paper ones, though.

inappropriateraspberry · 01/08/2023 07:33

If you're with Vodafone, they are offering a Ninja Foodi Max Health Grill and Airfryer for £180, which is a good price, everywhere else is £200+.

I've got the silicone liners and they're fine. People have reported the paper ones setting fire so I'd probably avoid those.

Oh I really must disagree.

I bought some silicone liners a few weeks ago and they're amazing, everything still cooks evenly and I don't have to keep scrubbing the basket for the sake of a couple of sausages etc.

The only thing I wouldn't put in them is garlic bread or pizza, as I like a crispier base.

Biscuitandacuppa · 01/08/2023 18:12

@Murphs1 I airfry fish and chips/nuggets and chips together in the 15:1. I usually chuck the nuggets or chips in first and leave them for 3 or 4 mins and then put the chips over the top. Just shake the basket and use a fish slice to turn them over halfway and it’s fine. Also French fries cook a lot quicker so keep and eye in them otherwise they are really crunchy!

Only thing is doesn't too is proper chips, only way to do them is a deep fat fryer but for everything else it's very handy.

But they're great for left over chips from the chippy, our place gives huge portions, and they taste crisper the next day.
I have done scones in mine, a single drawer Tower on offer at Sainsbury's earlier this year. I'm not a gadget person but I use this a lot and have only used the oven for a big family lasagne. I can put a a couple of sausages and hash browns in it then go and get the Sunday paper without fear of the house burning down! It's also great for frozen croissants, being on my own I would hesitate to use the oven just for those.

CurlyTop1980 · 01/08/2023 19:04

I cook loads in mine. I have the orginal one.Today I has some small new potatoes. So I washed these and put seasoning and oil on them and put them in the AR for 30 mins. Done all crispy and kids had this for lunch with carrot and cucumber sticks and humus.

I make sausages in it at the weekend for weekend breakfasts. Cook chicken wings with seasoning. Oven chips. Make sauces etc. It's great

Murphs1 · 01/08/2023 22:41

@Biscuitandacuppa I will def try that, mine arrived today but think I need to sit down when not working and read all the instructions as looks a bit complicated! 😁
Just wondering g if baking bread do you put your own tins in there or did you buy anything special?
