This morning I’m struggling to believe any of the new threads I’m opening. Even S&B is weird. Everything seems to be the sort of insubstantial cliched situation a young AI might spit out for fun.

At least I know the Archers thread is real! Although who knows how long it will be before the show is written by not-humans?

(I don’t actually want the Poll, but can’t find how to get rid of it.)

@KeepingKeepingOn ... that is pretty unsettling. My partner showed me ChatGPT, and it gave me the creeps. However, I created a post the other day in the legal section of Mumsnet... and I have to say I worded it exactly like that.. as in, greeting, story, end on questions, thanks in advance etc 🤣

I kind of wish I hadn't read this thread now, I'm going to be second guessing literally every single post I read 🤣

I see 'bus threads' not a thread about a bus but 'wait a minute and there will be another along soon' yeah I know I have seen some before

Exactly this, I dont acctually know what CPT means but in any case why the instant thought that strange threads are completed by a robot, people are just plain weird, thats explanation enough

This is probably as a result of this.

I've notice a lot of posts lately start with something like "I (24f) and my boyfriend (26m)"

It just seems strange as it's normally easy to work out who's male and female in the story, we don't need to be told in brackets 🤷‍♂️

I've noticed on some threads that all of a sudden a little flock of posters all appear at once, all bizarre things in 'slightly off' wording, always with LMOA emojis.

I think that's just copied of reddit

I’ve definitely stopped engaging as much; I click on threads and there’s something about the tone that makes me really suspicious, so I click away again. It’s a shame, but I really don’t enjoy the sense of being manipulated!

Honestly, honestly - you’ll get a lot more out of this conversation if you google ‘ChatGPT’ first.

I have just scrolled through active and clicked on various threads. There are some that clearly read as if they were created by a chat bot and others that seem very real.
MN admitted they made up threads in the early days to generate traffic. I guess this is the new approach.

I didnt really understand the title because I thought you had written 'chat' referring to the chat section on here and then missed a space before the initials (and of course I got an initial wrong) so I didnt really know what you were meaning in terms of that

But really, it’s worrying. Vaguely heard a thing yesterday about paying for some sort of ID to prove we’re human.

There’s a thread at the moment (won’t say what because TAAT) that might be easy and fun to respond to - but it’s so generic in tone all my instincts are screaming that it’s not real. To the extent that (heaven help me!) I’m tempted to ask the OP to give some specific detail that doesn’t sound like bot speak. It’s too soon. I’d hoped we’d have a few years yet.

I can see MNHQ updating the talk guidelines to include 'No BOT hunting' 😂

AI Bot threads always read to me as if the Bot has been taught by a Y6 SATs English teacher who has lost all their love for the English Language and instead are just following national framework. Grammatically it makes sense but language is more than grammar.

My usage of MN is markedly down, but I have yet to find anything that remotely replaces it. Forum's are dying, consumption of inane videos appears to be the preference of many.

I feel as though I've been living on a desert island for the last few years. I didn't even know this was a thing. I'm still marvelling at the accuracy of the predictive text on my iPad😆
