Ongoing petechiae-very worried

Hi All,

I am just wondering what would you do .

Long story so bear with me.

2 month ago I found a lump on my 7 years old girl neck and she was complaining of being more tired and had a leg pain mainly in the evening.

We went to our Gp who sent us for an ultrasound and blood test.

Ultrasound came back as reactive lymph node and blood test came back ok also.

A few days after her blood test I’ve realised that she has very few red spots on her body ( mainly neck and back area) but I found on her leg tummy etc .

They were not fading under the glass.

Next day we went to our Gp who said it is petechiae but as she has only a few and had a blood test not a long time ago she is not concerned as it can be from lots of things ( heat scratch etc)

She got few spots every day here and there and they were fading by next day or so but she kept getting new ones.

We asked the Gp again who said she is not concerned.

The spots stopped coming for 2 weeks and I was so relieved however this Monday when she had around 40 on her shoulders , no fever no sickness and keep getting few ones every day mainly on her back and neck .

Next day the same so we went to the Er.

The doctor looked at me with a very big open eyes saying that they are petechiae but this is not the kind of petechiae they are worried about.

However he ordered for blood which came back ok, however her haemoglobin was borderline.
( the blood test a month ago was in the morning that one was in the evening so they can cause the differences maybe )

I honestly do not know what to do at this point.

Should I push for specific blood tests? Should I go back to my Gp to refer us somewhere else?
Or should I be calm that her full blood count came back ok?

Did any of you were in similar situation? What was the outcome?

I am honestly very nervous.

Many thanks.

I've slowly become covered in these all over my stomach and some on my arms and legs. I googled and got all sorts of horror stories with most sites recommending I go straight to my GP. Which I did and he was extremely blase about it , said it could be high blood sugar levels or maybe hormone related . He did some basic blood tests and I've heard nothing since. I understand why you would be worried I hope you get better answers soon

Thank you for your response.

Do you still have petechiae every day?

when did you have a blood test done?

I guess if your Gp did not ring you then everything is ok.

@IWishIWasABaller this is pretty much the same as me (although I left it over a month to go to the GP 😂). I also didn't hear after my blood tests but checked the NHS app where they all said satisfactory - no either action!

I seem to get more all the time it seems to be concentrated on my stomach area which is strange. Blood tests done approx 6 months ago and they sent a text to say all results were normal. actually due to see my doctor again soon so I'm going to ask again as there has to be some reason for them !

Definitely ask about it.

my Daughter getting 5-10 new little spots every day in the last 2 month.

she’s got 2 blood tests so far but we are gonna go to a haematologist in September, maybe she can look for the cause more deeply and can give us some answers.

Did you see the hematologist? How was it?

Any update OP?!

@IWishIWasABaller what happened when you asked your GP again? I also have the same, blood tests came back normal and have been ignoring them for a year but I am still covered!

Hope everything's okay with your daughter @MimiDuncan - did you get to the bottom of it?

Hey , no still nothing done about them . Have had lots of different blood tests ,scans etc and nothing untoward has shown up in anything . One doctor said it could be a side effect from my fatty liver , another said he sees it a lot in women with high estrogen levels . No one seems concerned and I continue to develop more all the time
