Well I was going to originally post about something horrific that my narcissist ex had done today to try and completely destroy me forever but fuck them, it worked for a few hours, I nearly slid back down that pit again but nope no thank you, nice try.
Instead I'm going to watch some comedy, last couple of years I've been watching non Brit stand ups Kathleen Madigan and Steve Hughes being two of them.
Love to know yours Thank you

Derry Girls - God I love it. Cheered me up so much when I had unexpected surgery

The Good Place - mad but fab

almost vintage now but I really love Goodness Gracious Me. My family is Indian and some of it is SPOT ON

Also and I really know it’s controversial but some (not all) of the humour in Little Britain does make me laugh, albeit sometimes slightly uncomfortably

Sorry your ex is so dreadful and hope you feel better soon

Thank you x
Derry girls was brilliant, fantastic cast. Watched it over and over. Goodness gracious me I loved. "Going for an English" is a classic , I don't think I could be friends with anyone that didn't get what they were doing. I remember one of the sketches being about the primitive railway systems in Britain 😆and another about dressing in local clothes (union jacks) to fit in. Genius.

My two favourites when life is hard are Taskmaster and Ghosts. I'm surprised ghosts hasn't been mentioned actually cos it's just perfect (plus Alison, Mike, Kitty and Mary have all been on TM).

Friends, People Just Do Nothing, Inbetweeners!

PTSDBarbiegirl · 25/07/2023 23:05

Motherland
Not comedy but Call the Midwife or Vera or Miss Marple, instant calm.

Not really comfort comedy, but I have been listening to the Jonathan Pie podcasts on BBC sound and they are very funny. Bit Alan Partridge like, but an angry radio presenter instead.

Detectorists or Gone Fishing with Whitehouse and Mortimer always cheers me up.

I've watched some Luisa Omelain clips on YouTube which were good too.

ReginaPerrin · 25/07/2023 23:07

I forgot to add Motherland to that list!

RitaFromThePitCanteen · 25/07/2023 23:08

I recommend Brooklyn 99. I also love Scrubs and the Green Wing.

Would I Lie to You is great. Bob Mortimer is the best guest ever. Link to a compilation of some of his stories: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1vE8ExuuNZQ

The OP needs to look up the Stars in their Eyes sketch from Reeves and Mortimer. I don't think I have ever laughed so much in my life than when I saw Bob Mortimer be George Michael.

NeighboursEverybodyNeedsGoodNeighbours · 25/07/2023 23:11

Oh and the IT Crowd episode "Gay - the musical!" So many amazing moments in that!

Mummadeze · 25/07/2023 23:12

Gogglebox always makes me laugh. I also like watching First Dates to restore my faith in romance.

Love ghosts and taskmaster (especially Katie Wix) but hadn't noticed that !
Still haven't watched the last series of taskmaster, need to get over my Frankie Boyle issues.

Yet another vote for I'm Alan Partridge. You can't beat it. Has me in hysterics even though I know exactly what's going to happen. I love the episode when he pierces his foot on a spike.
I'll have to give Jonathan Pie a go.
I also recently watched Hebburn on the I player and really enjoyed it.

Dads Army

Frankie Boyle the standup is a complete creation. Frankie being Frankie is a delight. You won’t be disappointed!

WeetabixTowels · 25/07/2023 23:16

Graham Norton videos on YouTube. Brilliant!

Fluffbutt · 25/07/2023 23:17

Any Alan Partridge series, Peep Show and both UK and US versions of The Office are my go-tos.

Oh, and The Royle Family!
