On holiday - men being loud

DannyLaRuesBestFrock · 22/07/2023 23:08

I'm on holiday with my husband and Dd and I can't help but notice, men being super loud. Making a show of jumping in the pool and then the noises whilst swimming, men yawning and making a fucking song and dance about it, or laughing so loud - 'I'm so tired/fun/hilarious *delete as appropriate, that everyone has to know about it.

I don't notice it much at home, so I feel like they are showing off and want attention on holiday.

Is it just me? Or are men more annoying when you're on holiday???

It's like they really like to make their presence known.

Women can be just as bad. Usually a lot of squealing is involved.

Popworld · 22/07/2023 23:21

When you dislike something everything they do will seem worse

DannyLaRuesBestFrock · 22/07/2023 23:22

I've not noticed women as much. We are staying on a bit of a quiet area and it's mainly older couples/families with older kids, so no squealing from middle aged women, but definite 'watch me/listen to me' behaviour from the blokes.

Well yes, I think this is true actually. Maybe I'm just intolerant 🤣

I can't say I've ever noticed men or women doing this more.

What noises do they make when swimming?!

It's really hard to spell lol. But they spit water out the mouth and go 'pfffffttt'

Realise I am sounding nuts right now

Where are you?

hotchocandtwosmokybacon · 22/07/2023 23:43

Maybe they had a few drinks and didn't realise they were louder than they thought (doesn't make it more OK of course).

DannyLaRuesBestFrock · 22/07/2023 23:44

Greece, but in a quiet area.

I always keep an eye out for tables with a lot of women…. And ask to be seated elsewhere away from them.

I also try and avoid tables where the guys look drunk.

No. This is at like 10am.

Maybe it's just our pool area, but lots of different nationalities and all you can hear is the blokes.

Maybe it's just their dulcet tones annoying me. But they all have look at me signs on.

...oh, clearly uploading your own animated gif doesn't work! 😆

LaLaLouella · 22/07/2023 23:51

Why is it that on these types of thread, the first response is always someone stating that women can be just as bad... it's extremely tedious.

Yes op, men can be knob heads, particularly when they are trying to show off and everyone else wants us a bit of peace and quiet.

Just try and ignore them, they may one day go away....

Umm, not sure what you are trying to say here. I do actually love the Simpsons and revere most of the memes, but I do not understand what your point is here?

I once heard a woman snap at her very loud show off husband, “oh, shut up Simon”, and now say it whenever I hear a loud man on his important call, or being loud in a restaurant or whatever. Try it, it helps (me, they don’t hear).

CorydoraTheExplorer · 22/07/2023 23:56

@DannyLaRuesBestFrock It was just the gif version of this scene. Lots of recent threads have reminded me of it, yours is one of many!

The point I am making is that male entitlement never takes a day off. That's all. And sometimes, it's amplified more when they think they can have more clout.

Amen to that.

It's the vocal equivalent of man spreading.

YES! Men are taught from an early age that noise and ownership of space is theirs by virtue of their sex. Boys will be boys. I only once heard a woman performative-sneezing (in Sainsbury's) and it was so unusual the whole shop went quiet whereas men do this frequently in public and seem to assume it's normal behaviour.

Yep! Men often like to “own” a space and that includes audibly. I find the men who are on holiday with a family group do this most; it’s as though they’ve invaded with their tribe and are planting their flags.

blackbeardsballsack · 23/07/2023 00:16

I know exactly what you mean. They do it in the gym too. And actually, just about anywhere. Always looking for an audience.

I'm stealing this 😂
