£1.25 cookies, will it look cheap be truthful?

I’m leaving a short term placement tomorrow and I very stupidly asked DH to go and buy cookies for my colleagues. I can’t go out now as I’ve taken my contacts out and can’t find my glasses. Can’t walk to shops have to drive. The other cookies are fine but the ones I wanted to give the IT guys for helping me with my password etc. have £1.25 on them! It’s just a pack of cookies. I know they don’t expect anything but is it embarrassing for me to give these or should I not worry so much? Apologies it’s my last day and I feel anxious plus I’ve had a crap week so overthinking everything.

Can you get to a Tesco on the way to work tomorrow?

A big tub of Heroes or Celebrations p is £4.

MiddleParking · 19/07/2023 21:47

Sorry, hit send too soon - what kind of cookies? It’s a crucial detail.

teacher582 · 19/07/2023 21:48

Don’t think we need a pic.

The cookies are fine if money is tight.

teacher582 · 19/07/2023 21:50

Don’t have Tesco’s nearby. Co op is only place nearby.

I think it is fine. It's the thought that counts. If you are embarrassed about it tell them the story and laugh along with them.

Glitterybee · 19/07/2023 21:52

Sorry they are a bit cheap OP! Grab something else to give along with them in the morning

CaramelMac · 19/07/2023 21:53

It’s the IT guys job to help you with your password so I’m sure they’ll be pleased to be given any kind of biscuits, it’s the gesture not the price that counts!

Philosopherstone · 19/07/2023 21:53

Coop sell there fresh cookies everyday in packs of 5 or so grab some of them on your way into work

UnsolicitedOpinions · 19/07/2023 21:53

Yes, it will look a bit crap. Maryland cookies are hardly a luxury gift item. They’re just little biscuits. I think cookies are fine but they need to be bigger nicer ones.

They don’t have to be really expensive but literally the ones you get in a supermarket bakery in a plastic box, or ones you get in a paper bag of 4 or 5 from a supermarket or Co-op. Or the more luxury ones that come in a pack of about ten in a box.

UnsolicitedOpinions · 19/07/2023 21:54

Cross-posted - Co-op is an ideal place to get suitable cookies.

Hufflepods · 19/07/2023 21:55

It’s fine, someone in an IT department is just doing their job on a very basic level by helping you with a password anyway.

TheBeesKnee · 19/07/2023 21:55

Sorry I also think it looks stingy, I'd pick something up in the morning on my way in to work - or pop out at lunch if there are shops near work.

teacher582 · 19/07/2023 21:57

Thank you! Yes I’ll keep them for my kids and buy a big box of something just before work . Does look stingy! Lol

meh, I’d pop into a M&S food to go bp garage & pick up a nice variety box. Also get some gluten free ones so all inclusive if anyone was coeliac.

nisa might do nice ones or coop/Sainsbury’s local etc

You never know when you’ll meet up or need a reference. Think if it as an investment abd funny story.

good thing is he did listen & did buy what he thought like. So bonus points.
